HTML Sandbox is locked - Requesting HTML
Information, Links, etc. for FReeper Newbies

No.....this is not a request for help for myself, lol ! This is for folks that are new to FreeRepublic.com that need a place to practice their HTML before posting on the regular threads. When I see a new FReeper that posts an article and the first reply is "Paragraphs are our friends" (or the likes), I will send them links to the NEWCOMERS: Welcome Center and Information thread and the HTML Bootcamp (Cyber patriot training) thread. This way, they may become oriented to FreeRepublic and their posts will go up and be better received by the FReeper audience.

Perhaps in all the recent changes FreeRepublic has undergone, I missed something? When I search for the "Sandbox" I find quite a few of them, but they are all "locked read-only". I'm trying to find out if there is an active "Sandbox" for folks to practice their HTML skills. If there is not one now, can someone post one? Perhaps there is a "Sandbox" posted now under a different name, or a place outside of FreeRepublic that one can practice their HTML posting skills. Bottom line, I think you see I'm looking for a place that I can direct new folks to so they can practice HTML.

Last, if you have any links to HTML instruction, etc., or anything that might be helpful to FReeper newbies (or helpful to anyone for that matter), please post them here.

Duh! Forgot to add the text!

The point of that last post being, how do you create a clickable picture link?

Here is the code ( note that spaces were added to make the "and greater/lesser than" tags visible ):

< A href="http://www.getusout.org" >< IMG src="http://www.getusout.org/images/banners/ad_gun_poster.jpg" >< /A >

To sum up, first the web address link, then the image address link, then close with /a

If you use Asperand with lt; you get < -- and Asperand with gt; gives you > -- so you don't confuse the spaces.

Another point I found -- if you add <a href="......" target="new"> to the URL link, it will open in a New Browser Window, thereby retaining your place in the current window.

Doh!

Use the damn Spellcheck!

Asperand = Ampersand.

thanks so much for this,
I just installed this thread in my favorites, I'm not too computer literate at all and right now have to be in Miami in a few hours. I will pursue this avidly when time permits. I just sent a series of digital photos from Iraq showing how the soldiers live, I didn't know how to make it into a thread, I asked the moderator to help.
thanks again,
Keysguy

Thanks for the links. I was glad TPartyType got the Sandbox going again.
Folks use that and it's helpful.

quick html request here - a while back, someone was kind enough to teach me how to post a pic from my hard drive.

Well, despite the good teacher, I'm afraid i've been a less than stellar student, and I'm asking for help on this again.

I do remember the trick had something to do with right clicking and pulling up view html properties, or something like that... as is obvious, I've forgotten.

All help appreciated, tx in advance,

CGVet58

Getting started with HTML

Very good source for newbies. And for not-so-newbies as well.
