THOUGHT POLICE ACTIVE IN CANADA WEB SITE ORDERED SHUT DOWN FOR OFFENDING HOMOSEXUALS
By David M. Bresnahan August 25, 2002 NewsWithViews.com
OTTAWA, Canada -- The Canadian Human Rights Tribunal (CHRT) Tuesday ordered an Internet site to cease publishing information offensive to homosexuals.
Canada protects homosexuality as a lifestyle. Clergy and others have been cited for speaking out against homosexuality. The current action by the Tribunal may be seen by homosexual activists as a clear signal that opposition to homosexuality on the Internet can be stopped in Canada.
The Tribunal ordered John Micka, as well as Machiavelli and Associates Emprize Inc., Joanne Vestvik and Ken Fast to immediately cease communicating 'hate' messages on a web site known as the CitizensResearchInst.com.
The action came as the result of a complaint to the Canadian Human Rights Commission in 1999 and 2000, claiming that Mark Schnell, a homosexual, was discriminated against by the web site.
In his complaint, Schnell said the site exposed "persons to hatred and contempt based on their sexual orientation." Schnell said that comments on the site were "offensive and derogatory, and that these messages implied that homosexuals are paedophiles."
In reaching his finding, Tribunal Chair Grant Sinclair emphasized that, "If the telephone is ideally suited to spread prejudicial ideas, the Internet is even better positioned. It is a very public form of communication, inexpensive, easily accessed, and can communicate many messages simultaneously to a world-wide audience."
Mary Gusella, newly appointed Chief Commissioner of the Canadian Human Rights Commission, echoed the Tribunal's concerns. She said that the Commission had a message for operators of hate Web sites. "Spreading hate is against the law in this country and will not be tolerated," stressed the Chief Commissioner, "and we will continue to serve the interests of Canadians by ensuring that meritorious complaints are reviewed by the Tribunal."

"To say A has a right to B's approval is to say that B has no right to his own opinion." -- Thomas Sowell.
Canada has apparently lost all objectively defensible notions of what constitutes a right. But in this regard they're only a couple of decades beyond us... unless some sort of ethical and intellectual renaissance takes place in the intervening years.

No free speech soon enough in these United States either I fear. Why don't we just take out everything from His Word that offends anyone? I imagine what's left would fit nicely into a little Red Book

Amazing. And funny. It ought to increase actual violence against homos by a pretty large degree. People denied their right to dissent peacefully have no other mode of expression. And these idiots think they have won...

I'd need to see this website before I jump to any conclusions. If it merely posted objections to the homosexual lifestyle then shutting it down was wrong. If it advocated, supported or encouraged acts of violence against homosexuals or their dwellings then it was rightfully shut down.
I see no evidence in either case, therefore I cannot align myself with the comments others have made on this thread.

Repression from the left is much more pronounced in Canada then in the US but we are moving that direction. As others have pointed out on this post it could come to this in the US. Living in California where every accomodation is made to the Gay lobby and gayness is taught in the schools well soon have to watch out what we post.
In truth I could never even mention my objection to the gay lifestyle at work. I have already been fired from a job because of the intolerance of flaming gay boss.

Good you're not a knee-jerk conservative. You cant see the site because it is closed.
But I will bet $1,000,000 (Canadian) that a NAMBLA (North American Man Boy Love) web site operates in Canada.

No matter what "man" demands or says, homosexuality is evil. Someday the Judeo Christian God willbring justice to this abnormal lifestyle. If you want to call my words, "hate speech", go ahead. I speak the truth and the author of that timeless truth is God.

Evil yes but you can't mention what is evil. Each one of us pays a huge amount in taxes for AIDS medical care BUT, the disease is still spreading dont mention this. You cant even mention this FACT to some 20 year old in college without being called a homophobe or worse so they are winning the propaganda war.

I have a suggestion for web master as to what to do about his critics: Post some gay porn. That will either really enrage them or so excite them that they will be busy for days.

Right. Well then, in the interest of fair and balanced I cannot pass any judgements, can I?
But I will bet $1,000,000 (Canadian) that a NAMBLA (North American Man Boy Love) web site operates in Canada.
I'll double your bet. Their hypocrisy is astounding. They'll, rightfully, rant and rave over the horrors of pedophile priests then defend the obscene writings and actions of NAMBLA.

"Spreading hate is against the law in this country and will not be tolerated," stressed the Chief Commissioner, "and we will continue to serve the interests of Canadians by ensuring that meritorious complaints are reviewed by the Tribunal." So if 100000 people writew to the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal saying:
"I strongly object to the existence of this tribunal because first of all perverts are not human and deviants disgust me."
What are they gonna do?
Arrest all of them?
Hold 100000 trials and keep repeating the statement?
Inquiring minds...

We knew this was coming and here it is!! Maybe the USA has had it all along.
THE New York Law Journal reports February 28 on the case of Peter Melzer, a teacher from the Bronx who was fired in 1993 for his membership in NAMBLA, the North American Man-Boy Love Association. (By "love," of course, sexual intercourse is meant.) After nearly a decade, federal judge Frederic Block has finally gotten around to ruling on Mr. Melzer's firing, to which the teacher had objected on the grounds that his NAMBLA membership was irrelevant to his job. Because Mr.Melzer was an extremely active member of the group, writing articles for its newsletters and advising other teachers in the man-boy movement, Judge Block ruled that his continued employment as a teacher would be "disruptive" to his school. The children's right to an education, he said, outweighed Mr. Melzer's "limited interest" on being allowed to speak out in favour of child porn and Greek-style relations between boys and adults.
But fear not, gentlemen of NAMBLA: Judge Block did not entirely cut you off from your dream job. If Mr. Melzer had merely been a passive member of the association, the judge wrote, "it is doubtful whether any degree of disruption to the internal affairs of the school could justify [his] firing." The free-speech provisions of the Constitution, he said, require a school to hang onto a teacher even if he "expresses views and aspirations clearly repugnant to the sensibilities and belief systems of the community at large, the Court and his public employer." Yes, that sound you hear is Ben Franklin and James Madison groaning in their graves.

"Hey, Canada is as socialist as Red China."
Two things here, # one is that we need to be watchful here in the US because there are many Americans who want to use Canada a model for US social policy and # two is that many consertative Canadians feel helpless to stop the marxistazation of Canada.
The price of liberty is eternal vigilance.

Let Canada fill its prisons with the righteous and hasten the uprising there soon to follow. Call the bluff of the perverts and defy them to imprison the righteous.

"The children's right to an education, he said, outweighed Mr. Melzer's "limited interest" on being allowed to speak out in favour of child porn and Greek-style relations between boys and adults."
When I was young in my teens 40 years ago we had "chicken-hawks" who preyed on young boys who were naïve about sex. In those days the law came down very hard and fast on those perverts. Today they have an organization and lobby that is well funded. I remember the first I heard of NAMBLA 15 years ago it was from was a left-wing paper saying there was no such thing and that it was only undercover cops at meetings trying to "trick" men to come out.
One other thing has anyone notice that all these groups are no longer LesBiGay. They dropped the Bisexual ties and any reference to bisexuality because that would say the gay/bi orientation is a choice rather than a genetic predisposition?

I'm critical of homosexuality; where can I address the Kanadian government about Kanadian leftists? They offend me! :-)
To: billbears
The current prime minister did exactly that during an election in the '90s: the Liberals had a "Little Red Book" of campaign promises.

It is Thursday, August 29, 2002, and I'm STILL offended by Kanadian leftists. Is there a spot for my complaint on their Human Wrongs commission?

I don't think your community's grievances about "liberty" and "freedom of conscience" have any standing. Can you reword them in the form of a communist question?
Some friends of mine at the Freedom Party Of Ontario have done very good work against these creeps. There is a small number of us who see through "human rights". Here is a summary of their fight against one very cynical and corrupt use of the HRC.

Can you help redress injuries to the common good and the world's workers that come from suppressing and levying sanctions against the people's individual opinions?

Canada is a pretty scarry place these days. Socialism is embraced. Free speech is curtailed. No real defense of the nation. What next???Famine for British Columbian citizens in response for their provincial government's rightward tilt? Packed suitcases, 1 at work, 1 at home, in preparation for the midnight knock? Prosecution for "Anti-Canadian Slander?" Forcing all Quebecois citizens into the Northwest Territories (North America's Siberia)? Gulag for Canadians naive enough to simply bury their guns, thus rendering themselves defenseless? Garish, scarlet propaganda posters?
