(Hildebeast) Clinton's schedule includes two Geneva NY mtgs this Thursday
İFinger Lakes Times 2002 ^ | August 27, 2002 | By Andrea Deckert

Although some of the details of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's visit to the area have not yet been released, local officials have confirmed two of her stops.

Melanie Stepp, president and CEO of the Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce, said Clinton is scheduled to arrive in Geneva at 3 p.m. Thursday, where she will have two private meetings at the chamber of commerce office - the first with city officials, the second with representatives from area chambers.

Stepp, plans to attend the second meeting and said she would like to speak to Clinton about the proposed Finger Lakes Institute and Gateway Center, which city officials are working on with representatives from Hobart and William Smith Colleges. The facility would showcase attractions throughout the Finger Lakes and serve as a learning laboratory for students.

Stepp has also spoken with members of the local tourism council about what they would like to hear about on the federal level. The biggest response has been from area winery owners, who want a dsicussion of reciprocal wine shipping among states.

The meetings will be followed by a public appearance at the gazebo, scheduled for 3:30 p.m., where Clinton is expected to speak to hundreds about Finger Lakes preservation.

"Although she has been to the area several times, she always draws a crowd," Stepp said.

From 5:30 to 7 p.m., she is scheduled to meet privately with business and community leaders in a Finger Lakes Economic Summit to exchange ideas.

It will be hosted by BonaDent Dental Laboratories in Seneca Falls, represented by President Bruce Bonafiglia. Also expected are Robert Pagano, president of ITT Industries/Goulds Pumps; Robert Rosenkrans, chairman of the Seneca County Industrial Development Agency; and Michael Smith, president of Finger Lakes Raceway.

You can bet the "Etiquette Squads" will show dissenters no etiquette, nor will they be saying "please", "thankyou",... and will be brandishing more than neatly folded napkins.

The question is, what do these sponsors hope to gain for their industries by inviting the Hildebeast and "promising" her a positive reception and press. She wouldn't attend if there weren't any closed door deals. It's less about the preservation of the Finger Lakes and more about business/politics.

If there are any protestors, they will be kept far away from Clinton and the media will ignore them. While she was campaigning for Senator here in upstate New York, she made appearances that were carefully calculated only to include her supporters. She was caught by surprise when she appeared before the New York City Fire Department and Police Department members and they heartily booed her. She will be very careful to see that this doesn't happen again.

I don't think she'll be there. This just in.

A bewigged, dejected, haggard -- and urine soaked -- Hillary Rodham Clinton is seen being led into Central Booking at the Washington, DC jail. Indicted for federal campaign funding violations, she had eluded authorities for several weeks. She was apprehended while attempting to hop a westbound Amtrak freight in the switching yards behind Union Station.

I still am glad the Hildabeast stays away from western NY. Probably still has a bad taste in her mouth after Tom Bowerly ravaged her on AM radio interview. Hope she runs in 04 so that she can show her deceit to NY's with her so called term commitment. We can only hope some really stinky dirt rises to the ocassion with her candidacy!

Sucking up to rural locals has to be the WORST part of Hillary's gig, as far as she's concerned.

The ratio of [ cash + votes / time spent ] has to be at the bottom of her little matrix.

If Incitatus , G-d forbid, ever makes it back to the White House, you can be sure she'll cite these trips as proof of her having slogged her way up from the bottom of the political world.

I am pre-deleting the balance of my remarks. :)

Come on Freepers and Freep the witch it's either freepers freep her or no one will....
,,,,,,,,,,,

TLBshow and I executed a successful FREEP of Bill and Hillary Clinton this afternoon at Hobart & William Smith colleges in Geneva, NY. The event was a welcoming reception for the Clintons, who are vacationing in the Finger Lakes region of New York State. Mark Gearan, president of Hobart and William Smith Colleges, was director of the Peace Corps during Clinton's presidency, and the announcement that he had been named president of the local colleges in 1999 was made by the White House. Gearan's association with the Clintons began when he was then-Sen. Al Gore's campaign manager in 1992. Gearan also served on the Clinton transition team and was director of communications in the early years of the Clinton administration. He is a Clinton ally and liberal to the core.

TLBshow and I met at McDonald's just down the street from the colleges about a half-hour before the event was to begin. After a quick burger and a quick stop for a camera, it was off to the FReep. We pulled into the college and had no problem finding parking close to the quad where the event was being held. Overall, I was disappointed with the turnout. I had estimated between 300-400 people, with the crowd being made up of students, some parents, faculty, and various members of the media. The quad wasn't even close to being full of people. I had overheard several students saying the only reason they came was because it was two national figures and there wasn't much going on at 3pm Saturday afternoon. That's not saying much for the Clintons. We put on the prisoner costumes in the parking lot, and I grabbed a Hillary mask, while TLBshow carried a sign with a picture depicting Hillary as Richard Nixon, with the caption "I AM NOT A CROOK". Off we went in the direction of the quad.

We made it there at exactly 3:00, and walked around the field for a bit, attracting a LOT of attention. The Clintons were late as usual and the event didn't start until 3:45, but right away we started getting dirty looks from just about everyone we encountered. Some cute girls came up to us right away and asked if they could get their picture taken with us, and I naturally agreed!! Other people were taking pictures of us, and a few other girls came up to us and asked us why we were protesting Hillary, and what didn't we like about her. Trying to be non-confrontational, we told them we didn't approve of Clinton's presidency or his wife's Senate run. Abuse of powers, scandal, pardons, and Hillary's pardons-for-votes scam were just some of the reasons we were protesting her. Several other folks came up to engage us in discussion, but no one really wanted to debate us, simply asking us what we were doing and then walking away.

We were interviewed by A Finger Lakes newspaper, and we plugged Free Republic and the website to him. He said the story would run in Sunday's edition. Two guys came up to us and asked if they could film an interview with us for a public-access type of show that they do for fun; they said their show included sketch-comedy, political activism, and some of their crazy antics, I assumed a Tom Green type of thing. They gave us the best interview of anyone, engaging us in some discussion and joking around with us. We were also encountered by a Secret Service agent, who just came by to say hello. We told him we were keeping it peaceful and non-confrontational and he walked away.

Hillary was introduced by their pal Mark Gearan as "the freshman Senator who has introduced, authored, or co-sponsored the most legislation this year"! Hooray for more legislation! She gave a short speech describing some of the liberal government schemes that she supports, saying the tax cut was too big, reminding us we need to continue with a failing Social Security, and bashing the Missile Defense project. She stumped on her favorite topic, education, saying we had to continue with a failing system that is failing our children by pouring more money into a broken system. Nothing too exciting whatsoever. She ended her speech by praising her husband and his 8 year reign of terror, and then introducing him to the podium, which was followed by some remarks by our disgraced former president Bill "B.J." Clinton.

Bill started his speech out by thanking his wife and praising her work in the Senate. He made a joke about some cowboy boots he had just bought in Australia, and then at GW Bush's expense, said "I went to Texas, once, but only for a day" and laughed. He then addressed the students as to why they should be brainwashed into liberalism, reminding them about America’s commitment to solve all of the world’s problems. He pumped up his presidency, saying he created a lot of jobs, boosted the economy, and taking credit for the popularity of the Internet. It was disgusting.

After that, the crowd dispersed and TLBshow and I left. It was just the two of us, but we managed to make our presence and our positions known, and we also plugged Free Republic a bit. TLBshow will be posting pictures soon, so stay tuned.

,,,,from the local paper there

Not everyone at the quad was a fan, however. Two men, who refused to identify themselves other than by the stage names they use for their Internet talk show, protested the Clintons' appearance.

Dressed in prison-style striped clothing, one carried a sign bearing a Nixon-esque caricature of the senator and the words "I am not a crook," while his cohort wore a mask of her face. They called her election as senator a disgrace and said he had sold pardons during his final days in office, adding that they were dressed as prisoners to emphasize their belief that the Clintons belong in prison.

And is it not interesting how her backing of Demorat gov candidates changes as the wind blows! Looks like she wants the A.Amer vote for her future. GO GEORGE P. If there is any hope for this state we will need a big name person to defeat gun grabing Chuckie. Maybe Rudy will step up to the plate. I see fireworks, protests, and more polital fodder than ever imagined.
