If I had MS stock, which I don't, I wouldn't short it now. I wouldn't short MS based on any news coming out of Apple. Seems every time something "great" happens at Apple they lose market share.

I wouldn't short MS based on any news coming out of Apple...I would be impressed if they ported OSX to AMD/Intel and licensed it to anyone who wanted to build PCs. They might jump to 5% market share.

Remember MS=Antichrist, everything MS does=evil. Does Microsoft still own a chunk of Apple? Just curious.

I never figured out how that whole money exchange thing worked. It scared me. Jobs hates Gates so much and the first thing he did when they brought him back was go begging for money.

Fast, stable, elegant, and intuitively easy to use, OS X makes owning a Mac once again a mark of distinction. Yeah, sure. Right.
Hey, here's an idea! Why don't you just go out and get a man's machine and use that for a while.

you ever actually USE Windows calculator? It did scientific and conversions a LOOONG time ago. Uh, ok. If you need to brag about the power of Windows because of the calculator, you stick with it!
Looks like yet again Apple is catching up and insisting they're actually passing. The network thing is another great example, you know what it "confusing configurations" it takes to connect a Windows box to the network? The name of the domain (assuming you're IT guys have setup the network right, if they haven't fire them and find guys that will).
The Mac OS had built-in networking (1987) before there was Windows 1.0. So I am a little lost as to why your point matters. As for Windows Shares, it is easier now to connect to a Windows box with a Mac than it is with a Windows box. Right out of the box, Mac OS X 10.2 can connect to more network mounts than Windows.

Hey, these "small matters" are what the guy bragging about how great X.2 is brought up. He thinks they're really freaking great, don't yell at me for thinking he's a bleeding fool.
Windows only has to connect to one network: Windows. That's the nice part about ruling the world, you can leave interoperability to the poor shlubs playing catch-up.

They would have an easier time selling their products in corperate environments. Not without seriously lowering their prices they won't.

The biggest hitch (for me) with X has been driver support from people like UMAX, whom I am beginning to regard as the Anti Christ of the scanner world. UMAX is the worst hardware company on the planet. Throw their scanner away and never buy another one. Their software is crap for Max AND Windows. Incompatible. Unusable. Death to the demon UMAX!

FWIW, I opened a .mac account, and have really been enjoying it. I used to use a full blown domain, but it's soooooooooo easy to set up a page of photographs that I can knock it out AND have them posted in about twenty minutes. The integration of .mac and the operating system is really great. I thought it was well worth it.

Hey, here's an idea! Why don't you just go out and get a man's machine and use that for a while. Hey, I would, but my wife won't let me unplug the refrigerator long enough for it to finish POST, let alone boot! ;)

In other words, the apps work, but I still have to boot to 9 to use my poor ol' scanner (it's old enough that there is going to be no driver support for X; UMAX wants me to buy a new scanner, I think this one still has some years left...) I was surprised recently while running Photoshop LE under Classic in OS X 10.1.5 that my UMAX Astra 2200 scanner worked with the Twain acquire menu. So it is possible to get a scan out of that model without booting up 9.
I'm still planning on getting rid of the Umax and getting something better soon.

Unlike Windows XP, when you install it, it doesn't force you to type in a long serial number. Nor does it require any activation or copy-protection process, as in Windows XP Why would they bother? It's not like you can load OS X on any other computer but an Apple (which already comes with its own copy).

Who wants a Jaguar when you can have a Trabant?

Who wants a Jaguar when you can have a Trabant? There Yugo again...

And OS X doesn't endlessly nag you to sign up for other services, as XP does.I don't remember XP ever nagging me to sign up for other services. Perhaps I didn't check the "Nag" button when I installed XP months ago.

When the port it to an i386 platform I'll take a look at it. Motorola's CPUs are just a bit overpriced to me.
To: Fred Mertz
Sounds like a plan, I need a new computer too.

Thank you for the voice of reason. You can rest assured that the Bill Gates haters will be out in force.
