Elementary Schools Sued for Unlawful Pro-Homosexual Presentations

January 31, 2002

Novato, CA - The Pacific Justice Institute recently filed a lawsuit, on behalf of parents, against the Novato Unified School District for authorizing pro-homosexual presentations without any prior notice or consent.

The presentations, entitled "Cootie Shots", exposed elementary school children, as young as 7-years-old, with skits containing gay and lesbian overtures. The presentations were followed by question and answer sessions about what constitutes "normal" families and acceptance of those who choose the homosexual lifestyle.

After the assemblies took place, some of the concerned parents went to the schools to inquire why the school district had not complied with their explicit opt out request from such presentations. It was reported by school staff members that many of the forms were "missing".

Such presentations are anticipated by many to become commonplace in California public schools following recent state legislation AB537, which recommends overt pro-homosexual and pro-transsexual "tolerance" instruction.

"This lawsuit is the first in a major litigation campaign to combat school districts who attempt to undermine the statutory and constitutional rights of parents through the execution of AB537 recommendations," said Brad Dacus, president of the Pacific Justice Institute. "We intend to aggressively sue every school district that similarly violates the rights of parents."

The Pacific Justice Institute affiliate attorney James R. Courshon is serving as lead counsel for the parents. The Pacific Justice Institute is a non-profit 501(c)(3) legal defense organization specializing in the defense of religious freedom, parental rights, and other civil liberties.

My son told me that the purpose of the sex ed class at his school was to make kids into homosexuals. He said thats what all the kids think. As a result we are working very hard on an opt-out program with more teeth to it, and to educate parents on the content of the sex ed curriculum before they sign permission slips allowing their children to attend.

Good luck in your campaign to educate parents as well as the adults. Makes one wonder about home schooling or private schools, doesn't it?

Most students are quite aware of indoctrination efforts, and scorn them. In my sons' Boy Scout troop, kids are respectful of homosexuals, disgusted by homosexuality, and completely scornful of their indoctrination sessions in school. Just about right, in my book. That's good to hear.

I have made this comment before, and think I'll repeat it again: What would you do as a parent if a neighbor a few houses down decided to talk about sex with your 13-year old daughter, and give her condoms and birth control, and tell her if she ever has a "problem" come see him? I don't think I have to mention what most parents would do. Now, why should a parent treat a "teacher" who does the same thing any differently? Excellent point.

That's why my husband teaches in a Christian school - he doesn't get paid much, but our kids go there because of his teacher discount and they are LEARNING the right things - in fact the Jr. High Science teacher teaches them the differences between creation and evolution and how to break down the evolutionist's theories based on SCIENTIFIC FACTS!
