Ammonium Nitrate is a pretty common chemical I think. When I worked at a company that manufactured printed circuit boards we used anhydrous ammonia, a very dangerous chemical. It is also used as a fertilizer. (We used it as a supplemental ingredient - like a booster - in our etching process). It was the most dangerous chemical that we used at the facility. If the tank had ruptured and people were around, it would have likely killed them. We kept it stored outside instead of in the building for that very reason.
I know since 911, I have heard about these thefts on a number of occasions. I don't know if there's there's major evil terror coming up or just your everyday theft/monkey business. Not good in any case !
