Atta was in Israeli jail?

In Case You Didn't Know...

Terrorist pilot Mohammed Atta blew up a bus in Israel in 1986. The Israelis captured, tried and imprisoned him. As part of the Oslo agreement with the Palestinians in 1993, Israel had to agree to release so-called "political prisoners". However, the Israelis would not release any with blood on their hands.

The American President at the time, Bill Clinton, and his Secretary of State, Warren Christopher, "insisted" that all prisoners be released.

Thus Mohammed Atta was freed and eventually thanked the US by flying an airplane into Tower One of the World Trade Center.

This was reported by many of the American TV networks at the time that the terrorists were first identified. It was censored in the US from all later reports.

Frankly, I don't know what to think. What is the authority able to censor something from ALL the networks in he US?

A hoax, I would suggest. How about you?

I think in 1986, Atta was about 12 years old, no?

From link above:

"Mohammed Atta, one of the September 11th hijackers who flew a plane into the World Trade Center, blew up a bus in Israel in 1986 and was released from prison at the urgings of President Ronald Reagan and Secretary of State George Shultz.

More recent versions claim that Atta was released at the urging of President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Warren Christopher.

See the email here.

Is it true? No.

Why? It's a case of mistaken identity.

In April 1986, Jordanian native and naturalized U.S. citizen Mahmoud Atta threw a firebomb at a bus in the West Bank, boarded it and opened fire with a submachine gun. The driver was killed and three passengers were wounded.

Mahmoud Atta fled to Venezuala and was arrested a year later. As Venezuela had no extradition treaty with Israel, Mahmoud Atta was deported to the U.S. where he was arrested by the FBI. Three years later Atta was extradited to Israel where he was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment.

Mohammed Atta, one of the September 11th hijackers, was Egyptian and thirteen years younger than Mahmoud Atta. By all reports Mohammed Atta's involvement with terrorism began only two years ago.

That didn't stop some journalists and law enforcement officials from confusing the two. Reports from NBC, the Boston Globe and others reported that Mohammed Atta was involved in the bus attack in 1986.

The Urban Legend Zeitgeist also notes that Ronald Reagan and George Shultz had been out of office for two years when Mahmoud Atta was deported to Israel and five years when the Oslo peace accords where signed.

Bill Clinton and Warren Christopher are equally blameless since this is a case of mistaken identity.

When? October 2001

And while he was there the U.S. Dept. of Commerce coulda and shoulda dispersed printed material specifying the United Nations building as the "Tallest and Most Important Building in the New England Corridor", but as usual, that would only be wishful thinking...

No, not a mistake. But there are more Attas then just the beast who hijacked the 2nd WTC plane. There is also, apparently, some identity theft involved with these hijackers. I spent much of night of Sept. 10-11 reading about Ziad Jarrah who had the ability to be in multiple places at the same time.
This stuff really interests me and it was really missing in the medias coverage yesterday. What do we KNOW now that we didn't know before?

It's simply that what sounds to us as a fairly unique and strange name is just as common in the Arab world as "Joe Smith" and "Bob Johnson" and "Dave Jones"

A fair number of the innumerable false alarms in the past year have been unfortunate Arab souls who had a really common name that was the same as one on the "watch list."

This false rumor was debunked months ago. Another Atta, a common Arabic name, was responsible for the bombing in question.

Of course, if we were Palestians, we'd all just say: What the hell, who gives a shiite if it's actually true, just pass it on brother, pass it on!
