Someone stated, on another thread, that Eunice Stone admitted to lying about what the three guys said. There is no source mentioned, other than to say that it was on the news in Las Vegas. I have checked Fox and Drudge, but haven't seen anything.

Our freedom is what caused our prosperity, the freedom to learn, the freedom to challenge accepted ideas, the freedom to exercise that natural human desire to grow and improve. This is not a chicken and egg paradox, freedom definitely came first. To believe other wise would presumably to believe that womans liberation in the west came from government grants and not the suffragettes.
An excellent post. Thanks for sharing. Most of us here know that Chretien is your version of X42 (Bill Clinton - the Ex 42nd president). When one considers the source, well,....there ya go. Welcome to Free Republic.

Just checked the LV Sun and AP wire --nothing.

Terrific essay. Thanks for posting it. You make points that Should (in a proper world) be common knowledge. The reason they are not is because they do not fit the agenda of those who hate the idea of Freedom as bedrock.
To summarize your points - the population of the world has doubled in the last 50 years, and a lot of that happened because Western agriculture methods, food, and medicine, as well as financial support in other ways have enabled millions of people to survive.

If he keeps his head in his rear, then he has plausible deniability when the tough questions come his way.

ABC needed a pretty face and an empty head........nothing's changed since time began when it comes to broadcasting.

Well, on Peter's behalf, he really sounds a good bit smarter than Brian WIlliams.
Keep it up, Peter, you're a great guy.

Have they admitted yet to making sick jokes about 9-11? I believe that Eunice in Georgia actually did hear them making those idiotic remarks. Most likely they had big chips on their shoulders and wanted to shake up a bunch of "evil Americans" on 9-11.
These clowns are typical liberal "victims" claiming profiling and attempting to hide behind the old "knock 'em" Jackson whine "the racists are attacking us with lies"!
The Democrats and other America last "butt heads" are so predictable!

Getting Snippy About It: I am Canadian. And if anybody asks me about it, it's a personal matter.
He is a haughty, arrogant pestilent fellow!

I'm curious as to how he's going to be able to stay in America after his news career is done? He's not a citizen and I'll say it's a relief this stuck up fool is not one. I just love people harassing him about being an anti-American non-citizen and it sure shows why ABC is pathetic. I'd like to have his arse kicked out of this country and I'd volunteer to do it. Send him back to Canada, watch him cry in pain. Jennings is a joke who isn't even up to date on goings on in his country and he reports news off of cue cards. Isn't he a school drop out too?

CBC is ridiculous. Imagine if our government stricly said in legislation that the tv nets MUST carry things with the US label on them, or slanted to be pro-US.
In Canada, that's ok. But that country has moved toward high taxes and government interference in every part of every life. No how did this happen? The media is forced by the government to promote the country?

1. The vase isn't broken.
2. If it IS broken, I didn't do it.
3. If I DID do it, I didn't mean to.
4. Besides, Honey, I had a vaseectomy.
5. And I used vaseoline too.

JENNINGS: Somebody in the CNN newsroom, thank goodness, ran in and gave us this because it's a reminder to tell folks that you have to read -- when you read a story in the press, you want to read the story, because reporters are surrounding the quotes, and then you want to read the quotes. I can run it through my BrianWilliams BabelFishTranslator...hold on now, it's having trouble parsing, ok here it is...
WILLIAMS: They say, these men, that when we need to understand, to comprehend, to vet, to know, to have knowledge of a particular subject area, to suss out the eddential vapor of knowledge, an area which some may say is unknowable to only those with an inclination, a previous disposition to the aqcuisition of said knowledge, and this aqcuisition of knowledge is then transformed and molded into the proper form and proper context by these men that have said power and intellectual acumen, then the possibility that some may say that the laymen like yourself, can be developed into understanding of the subject matter at hand.

I saw Geraldo in Jordan last night interviewing some local fools. They talked about poverty as the cause of all this. Isn't is amazing how quickly these creeps pick up on our national strengths (compassion) and try to judo them into weaknesses?

Same argument used by inner city rioters in various US cities: -- I live in squalor, but it can not be my fault, therefore it must be some rich guy's fault for not making my life better.

Thanx for giving us the Canadian perspective. BTW, what is the general opinion of Peter Jennings up there?
P.S. SCTV was my all time FAVORITE comedy show.

Actually I have no real opinion on Jennings. I never watch him. I get my news mainly from the internet and newspapers. The only time I ever really watch an ABC news program is when John Stossel is on.
One more thing, thanks to everyone for their kind word on my piece.

Bourque Newswatch is quite influential. They once posted a link to a story I wrote and about a day later I got a phone call from the CBC about it.
