Why the folks in front of that committee tell it ANYTHING of substance is beyond me...

Just tuned in when the disruptions occurred. Throughout Runsfeld was unpreturbed! What was that all about?

I am watching Rumsfeld before the Senate Armed Services, where his testimony was delayed by PROTESTORS with big Stop the War signs. HOW DID THESE PEOPLE GET IN? Some security!
Rumsfeld now detailing all the threat that Hussein is and why deterrence won't work. He was unflappable while the screaming was going on. Ha!
To: Carolinamom
That's RuMsfeld.

That was MEDEA BENJAMIN and this is not the first time she's done it.

Well, if you have any doubts about whether or not it's going to be political, ask yourself why two victim family members are testifying first?
What could THEY possibly add to this "discussion?"

Did everyone see the peace activist during Rummy's opening statement.....LOL....we all know what will be on network news tonight!
To: Carolinamom; Miss Marple
I guess we can discuss both "events" here.

Medea Benjamin was right behind Rumsffeld. I mean directly behind him, no more than five feet away. How the hell did she get there?
Somebody's head better roll on account of this.

Two idiot girls got out big banners in the room and started chanting NO WAR, they were louder then Rummy so he just let them scream until the police led them out of the room. They had no war teeshirts on...
After they left Rummy went into the goodness of freespeach and how in Iraq they could not do this ect....
He was unfazed...

I was shocked at the protesters, but Rumy can sure turn a negative into a positive. How did those people get in?

And can you believe how long it took to get those 2 out of there? Several somebodies were dragging their feet to get there, it seems.

Fox commented that the Sergeant of Arms had some 'splainin to do.
Rumsfeld laying out a logical, factual case. Says that what has changed is September 11, and we now realize that we cannot afford to wait until we have a smoking gun.

My beef is this:
Within a week of ANY classified briefing, the substance is going to end up in the New York Times, Washington Post, or Washington Times.
Now, if this is more like the John Ashcroft's testimony in front of the Senate Judiciary committee in December, I'll reconsider, but at this point Congress needs to be seen and not heard.

I've seen the blonde protester on here before...at a Bush rally in California I think. Rummy did say something after they were ushered out. (paraphrasing a bit) We (the U.S.) were not the ones who threw the inspectors out, and, in Iraq, those protesters would never have been able to voice their feelings so openly (insinuation being: they'd be dragged off, tortured and then shot)
