He just can't get enough of bankers. He married a banker, his firm represents just about every bank in the state, and now he has a banker for a running mate.

I don't know what he was thinking.

I dunno---sounds exactly like Katherine Harris' situation...

Dems will use any excuse to be disenfranchised.

Rossin got a 57, John McKay got a 40. McKay happens to be the Senate President, and a Republican. McKay was the guy who pushed the idea that sales taxes should be extended to services. You may be aware JEB told the voters that, when he was Secretary of Commerce in the Martinez Administration, he told Martinez (in private, of course) that it was a terrible idea. This year, when McKay proposed it, JEB couldn't remember he'd opposed it fifteen years ago until a few months into the debate immediately after a poll was released showing the voters opposed the idea 80-20. Had JEB put a stop to it before McKay got it rolling it would have been dead before it began. As it is there's a ballot measure to approve a pro-tax commission to consider recommending it to the legislature.

So far McBride's run a smart campaign. The Rossin selection is probably also going to be a smart move. Rossin's from Palm Beach County and his district crosses the state taking in plenty of rural areas. McBride's strategy appears to be to appeal to rural voters and especially the Panhandle and North Florida voters. So far JEB hasn't done anything but shoot himself in the foot. His ads against McBride provided McBride's margin of victory in the primary and he pushed to eliminate the run-off this year to help Reno and thereby gave McBride two extra weeks to campaign as the nominee. Finally, JEB has made some progress appealing to voters in Southeast Florida. Against Reno that would really have succeeded. Against McBride, Bush will pay a price in North Florida and the Panhandle for the, IMHO illusory, progress he's made in Southeast Florida.

If McBride plays his cards right, particularly with respect to the 2nd Amendment, he could make JEB a one termer.

I don't know what his campaign says about the Second Amendment, but his law firm had a written "no guns" policy.

And his firm was in the Nationsbank Building. He has banking on the brain. The guy he asked to run for him was looking forward to retirement - oh, gee. He should not have admitted that today. Rossin just admitted that he wanted to retire but was called to serve by McBride. "The party's really together." McBride quote. He's in dreamland.

Ouch, now they're criticizing Jeb for being related to some presidents. That really hurt. LOL

Gee, thanks for the support. I disagree. McBride and Rossin are slick politicians who play to the polls, lie about Jeb and will put the DNC before our state's economy or security. Rossin condemned Jeb for putting the threat of terrorism before the children, then tujrned around and told the press that we need to spend big $$$ for a new biomed. plant for the war on terrorism. Like his partner, he's quick to blame Jeb and Republicans for budget woes...and their solution to the state's budget problems? New taxes, more regulations. Yawn. They are world class DNC liars and it will be a pleasure to take them on....McBride's high-powered far-left activist wife, too.

Yessssss, very interesting.
Watch your veterans....McBride is making a lot of inroads there- could be a problem.
I have heard good, loyal pubbies (veterans) PASSIONATELY defend McBride based on his war record- seemingly ignoring anything he's done since.
Scary.

True- I just hope Janet's folks stay home in droves- to show them how unimpressed they are with this ticket.

McBride refuses to discuss guns or the 2nd Amendment- will not respond or offer his views. That's enough for me- he's a typical democrat- pro-abortion, and anti-gun.

Kind of reminds me of McCain until his real nature came out but even then some veterans defended him. Makes me wonder what they are thinking about when they put the fact someone served in the military above everything else including what the person is like today!

Really irritates me to hear people defend someone just because they served. I spent years being around the AF. Some of them I really respected and others I detested like in any other field.

You are tight, Ragtime- these democrats are clinton-lite- folksy and warm, disingenuous about specifics, but with a far left agenda in their back pocket. They are appealing to the disaffected Jeb voters- by distorting his record and twisting the truth.
Rossin claimed credit for the election reform bill in 2001- and now blames Jeb that it wasn't enough. McBride seems to be running solely for the chirrrrun- but his campaign is just an arm of the ultra left teachers union.
Expect this campaign to be down and dirty- and truth to be the first victim. Stay stong!

Thanks much! I figured the Florida Freepers would be interested in seeing the DemocRAT ticket for Governor/Lt Governor. I cannot believe it myself that McBride picked Rossin!
