I just checked the tsunami center, and no alert apparently.

10 KM underground is kind of deep for a Tsunami.

Given that the epicenter appears to be on the East Pacific Rise, and most likely due to strike slip faulting along one of the many transverse offset faults along the spreading center, a tsunami, while not impossible (e.g. due to an undersea slide triggered by the quake for example) would be highly unlikely. (BTW - I was taught and advised by Dr. Bruce P. Luyendyk, one of the pioneers of submerisible geophysical exploration of the EPR... Alumn of UCSB - '84;)

We are just coming into a period of maximum lunar tidal stress. This might be a day early, but if there is a weakness in the earth's crust, this would be the time for it to let go. A volcano, too? Hmm.

It was in Trenton New Jersey, and it wasn't
an earthquake but the Rule of Law being smashed
to pieces by RATS.
Sorry. Off topic. couldn't help it.

Nope! You're right. It was Joshua Tree in '92 and SF in '88. Usually it's my spelling . . . :^D

Thanks for your prayers. I still have not heard from him, but I am sure he is okay. I have been refreshing this thread all day and sitting by the phone.

If your husband was offshore or inland, he is probably all right.

He should have been on the fishing boat at that time. Thanks for the reassurance!

See that big black squiggle? That happened every time Brabra Striesand said, "Bill Clinton."

No problem.

The worst place to be in a situation like this is right on the beach or next to the water in a marina.

Even in 100 feet of water it is probably pretty safe.
