On "Late Edition" with Wolf Blitzer, our National Security Advisor Condi Rice was giving an excellent interview, explaining why it was North Korea who complicated the situation concerning nuclear weapons, not the U.S. (all of the pieces fell into place BEFORE Bush's "Axis of Evil" speech). At the end of the interview, Wolf asked her about Harry Bellafonte's comments on Powell and herself, and played the clip from Larry King Live. Her resonse:
"I don't need Harry Belafonte telling me what it means to be black."

My suspicions have been confirmed: Intelligent, free-thinking, independent people scare the doo-doo out of Marxists.

The best part is (and correct me somebody if I'm wrong), if Cheney were to step down, and Bush appointed Rice to take his place, the Senate would have to approve the nomination. Most of the big names for Prez in 2004 come from the Senate (with the exception being Gephardt and R. Gore from Tennessee - an Isaac Asimov reference there in case you're scratching your head).

Anyway, these potential '04 Candidates would be faced with

• "A" making a big stink about it in the approval process- alienating black and women voters in the process as they tried to keep a BIG PLAYER off the ticket or
• "B" not raising a stink and then be faced with raising the stink later on the campaign trail. (The questions of course would be simple- 'Senator, you speak of these concerns you have over Dr Rice, why didn't you have these concerns just a few months ago when you voted approval for her to become Vice President?')

The Rice nomination is the BIG Ace Dubya's holding up his sleeve and everybody knows it. I figured he'd use it for this election- but then again, he's right in not doing so. If the GOP candidates out there can't win on their own merit, they were weak to begin with. Bush should save this move for the Big Enchilada- 2004. If Bush/Rice win in 2004- Rice would be unbeatable in 2008.

I did want to say that a friend pointed out something to me, that I just didn't think about before she said it, and that was the fact that kids today know so much more than we did, back when abortion might have been our only choice. Today, these kids are WELL aware of where and how to get birthcontrol and it's widely accepted and discussed. They have every reason to be much smarter than we were. I thought about what she said, and because of that fact, there should be very little need for abortions to ever have to happen. Since we know we'll never go back to coat hangers, let's be more involved parents, and help our kids make better choices with all the options they have--make it more popular to be a better person. AND...Let's get this issue back into being a moral one, rather than a political platform.

Colin and Bellafonte are both Jamaican and light skinned - which makes many blacks suspect them of being less black- at least Colin grew up in Harlem and came up the hard way- Harry has had it soft most of his life- ( I could be wrong of course but he was a Hollywood treasure for his light skinned black good looks as were others back then) Sammy Davis had to fight a bigger fight

I love Cheyney. But healthwise, his health may not be strong enough for another four years. Condi would indeed fit the bill

Just think what we have to look forward to: Hillary vs. Condi in 2008. Condi has a "cool" character that looks better on TV. Hillary has a temper, and is a "hot" character who would look hysterical (i.e. like a hot headed witch) in a debate. Most Republicans are gentlemen who would not whack at Hillary...but Condi could look cooly at her and put her in her place.
