Ah, memories. My mom had a 1971 Chevy Vega, NO AIR CONDITONING, with BLACK VINYL SEATS! So, on top of not being able to breathe in the summertime while we roasted, we frequently made involuntary stops in GM's brilliant early attempt at a compact.
My uncle had a Gremlin. It literally blew up on the New Jersey Turnpike.

LOL! My family owned a corvair and a maverick. The corvair was my dad's first car when we came to the States and my mom bought the Maverick in '72 (yes, it was mustard yellow). I drove that car to school and I thought I was stylin'!
A 2 door Fleetwood had a door that you could land an F-14 on.
Oh dear, these cars have an awful history for my family. My brother got run over by a Pacer (same two-tone color) in '76. He survived, with a dislocated hip.

I had a '94 Ford Ranger, 4.0L, V6. It ran great and I put 212,000 miles on it before trading it in last year. It had a couple of major repairs near the end, such as rebuilt tranny and new fuel pump, but I loved it. I upgraded to an F-150 and I couldn't be happier.
THe first truck I ever had was a 1974 Toyota Hilux 3/4 ton. It's color was blue, bondo, primer, and rust. I had it for two years ahd overhalled the tranny, the engine, the brakes, the fuel system, and the cooling system. I paid $50 for it and it cost me almost $3000 to keep it running for 2 years. I mean it was so bad that the hood popped on reflex when it got within thirty feet of my tools. It's nicknames were Hiroshima's Revenge and the Toyota Valdez (1 quart a week oil leak). I mean this buck lowered my families home property values just by being parked in front of the house. To this day when I hear the old sales pitch of toyota "Toyota, oh what a feeling." My Hemorroids twinge.
Sure did. I want to put this ride together myself. That was the first car that I remember my father having, and I want to restore this one the exact same way. I have 16-in rims with 4-inch white wall tires (doughnuts) already for it.
I need to find that model so I can get it painted gold (beige pearl) and have the white leather upholstery put in it and, voila! Pop's car rides again!

IF the Gremlin and Pacer are listed for being "ugly" where is the Pinto? It was just as ugly and occasionally blew up, too.

The only thing that made it worst was the service from the dealership. Never could get the car back the same day and repairs were always at least $200 in 1980 dollars. Also the transmission had to be rebuilt at 50K the whole think leaked.
I had the V-6 engine and it dripped oil consantly. I totaled it when the brakes locked up on me.
That's funny. The Dukes of Hazard was a favorite among everybody. My friends and I (11 black, 2 white) each had a General Lee Hot Wheels replica of it. Funny how the Confederate battle flag wasn't a problem then. I have no particular affinity for it one way or the other. Your mentioning Boss Hogg brought that back to mind for me.
Duke of Hazzard = Amos and Andy except using southerners. We should have been insulted but we all knew people like Cooter.
I've ridden in several Chargers and they were awful. A welfare version of the Challenger.
One of my frat bros had a lime green Elderado convertible. That was one bigass ride.
The 1970 Caddy El Dorado = Living room on wheels, in high scool a friend of mine packed 8 people in one, comfortablely.
