I get down to Clinton, Md. every now and then. Clinton was originally named Surrattsville, and is home to the Surratt Tavern, which was owned by Mary Surratt. She was hung as one of the Lincoln Conspirators. The tavern was where Booth stopped to pick up his "shooting irons" on the evening of April 14, 1865 prior to going to Dr. Mudd's.
