Unforgiven (English Bob).

...and "Unforgiven" (with Clint)...

In the English musical version of Christmas Story by Charles Dickens he played Scrooge.
Best movie...one of the best---ever made!

McArthur Park bump.
To: Recovering_Democrat
My favorite: "My Favorite Year".
Harris once said it was so closely depicted events in his life that he got shivers when he read the script.

McArthur Park bump.
Here's another hard-living actor that I thought had passed on years ago, until I saw him in Harry Potter. I even have fond memories of Orca.

Can Tony Blair appoint another actor to fill his spot? The answer is 'Yes'. But a careful reading of the Magna Carta suggests that his appointed replacement can only serve until the completion of the next 'Harry Potter' movie.

I will take my life into my hands and I will use it
I will win the worship in their eyes and I will lose it
I will have the things that I desire
And my passion flow like rivers through the sky
And after all the loves of my life
After all the loves of my life
I'll be thinking of you
And wondering why
MacArthur's Park is melting in the dark
All the sweet, green icing flowing down...
Someone left the cake out in the rain
I don't think that I can take it
'Cause it took so long to bake it
And I'll never have that recipe again
Oh, no!
Oh, no
No, no
Oh, no!!

I figured when they started using doubles to finish Harry Potter, it was pretty much over.
God bless the funniest, smartest actor in the world.

He might be able to star in some Weekend at Bernie's sequels, though.

Saw him live in Camelot at Wolf Trap sometime in the early 80s. I remember a few ad libs at the time comparing DC to Camelot. Great actor. He'll be missed.

For a few tantalizing minutes, FOX was reporting that Ted Kennedy might have been on Wellstone's plane......ahem.
To: Sir Gawain
From all I've heard of him, he was (ahem)... eccentric. I heard recently he was near death, so it's no surprise. He was a good actor, IMO. "MacArthur Park," of course, is a classic, but it was a good thing he kept his day job.
Well, they can't do Harry Potter without a Dumbledore, so it'll be interesting for my kids who they get to replace him. I hope they don't try some sort of Dr. Who, and just replace him without explanation. It's not exactly the first time characters have changed actors.

One of the great drunken Irish storytellers. He will be missed.
To: Recovering_Democrat
'Camelot' was fabulous.
To: theDentist
My favorite: "My Favorite Year". That was Peter O'Toole as the drunk, old-time swashbuckler in My Favorite Year.
To: theDentist
Peter O'Toole was in the screen version of that (incidentally one of my all time favorite movies). Did Harris play in another version that I am not aware of or was it just supposed to be based on his life?
To: ErnBatavia
But when he got on, the plane exceeded its weight limit, so he had to get off.

I swear----two days ago I said to the Mr. "It's been a while since any celebrity has died hasn't it? Isn't it about time for a few celebs to kick off?" He called me "morbid" and then made the prediction that Bob Hope would be next. I told him he always picks Bob Hope to die next, and the man will keep on kicking just to spite him. I reminded him of all the rockers that are in their 50's facing heart attacks due to their bad-boy ways. I guess we were both wrong.
To: Quietly
I hope they don't try some sort of Dr. Who, and just replace him without explanation.Dr. Who regenerates. That's how they explain the character changes. You didn't know that?
To: theDentist
"My Favorite Year" = Peter O'Toole
Supposed to be Sid Caesar and Erroll Flynn

Yes, I do! (Big Doctor Who buff.) I'm saying I hope they don't try some "magical" reason in the movies why he's changed, just let parents explain if kids ask that the actor died.

Accept for the fact that "My Favorite Year" starred Peter O'Toole, Not Richard Harris.
Although the two were good friends, drinking buddies.

Fond memories of
Orca?
Only because it ate Bo Derek.
I recall some years ago he appeared on "The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson" and related the story of how he became the first person in the British Realm to be banned for life from driving. While driving drunk (something he said he did often in the 60's and 70's) he struck and knocked over a double decker bus. And they said it couldn't be done.

I also saw him in a production of Camelot. Also, still have his album (boy does that date me) with Macarthur Park, Didn't We etc. I'm surprised it still has grooves I played it so much. Time to pull out the old record player.....
