MOSCOW (AP) - The Chechen rebels holding hundreds of captives have started killing hostages, Russian news agencies reported early Saturday after a series of explosions and gunfire were heard in the area.

A group of soldiers with guns drawn ran toward a Moscow theater and more explosions and heavy gunfire were heard as a couple of people were seen running from the theater.

Special forces troops were sent to help save the captives, Federal Security Service spokesman Sergei Ignatchenko said, according to Interfax news agency.

Two women have been freed and were inside the command center handling the crisis, he said.

Minutes earlier, a Russian official said that two hostages had been killed and two wounded. He did not say who had killed them. Reporters heard explosions and gunfire.

Pavel Kudryavtsev, an official at a command center handling the crisis, said that after an initial unsuccessful try, officials established contact with the hostage-takers by telephone.

The hostage-takers had threatened to begin killing their captives by sunrise Saturday if their demands for Russia's withdrawal from

They are not "Chechen rebels", CNN, MSNBC and Reuters! They are al Qaeda-inspired Islamist terrorists and I hope they get their wish of a one-way ticket to a hell's paradise and that all of the hostages (if my experience in Moscow theaters is any indication, the great majority are young women and teenagers) are freed alive by the Spetsnaz and Alfa troops.

Can you believe the news networks!! what a bunch of slugs. They are playing a rerun of O'Reilly instead of the Russian Army storming the theater. A rerun with Gary Condits menage o trois partner. What a bunch of jerks.

That really p*ssed me off. The events in Moscow are very relevant to us here in the USA because those pr*cks are going to do something like it here in the future. It's just a matter of time.

I want to see the Russkies storm the theater and bring out one of the terrorists alive, then cut his head off with a knife in front of the cameras ... just like the terrorists have done to the Russians for years.

Email sent to comments@foxnews.com.

I normally love Fox News and it is the only thing I will watch on TV for news. But I have to tell you, that I am extremely disappointed in your station. I simply **CANNOT** believe you interrupted an update in the Moscow terrorist situation for a rerun of O'Reilly. I have not watched O'Reilly since he screwed up the chances of getting those girls back from Saudi Arabia, and I will not watch him at any time now.

I have turned your station off since I cannot get any news from you. I am getting better news on FreeRepublic.com where a member is translating live Russian radio feed.

This is not one of your better moments. If I can get the news of the internet, I do not need to look at a TV. This is not a good thing if you claim to be the number one news source.

A very disappointed,

I hope everyone will take a moment to e-mail Fox and let them know that, despite what they think, their viewers ARE interested in the slaughter of innocent people by terrorists and that they should not be cutting away from breaking news to show John Kasich filling in for O'Reilly.

That was the headline on the article.
But, ya, you're right.
You go after women, children, non-combatants and you're a terrorist.

Ahhh...O'Reilly's finest moment. This was when my husband and I went from being lukewarm about O'Reilly to despising him. As one journalist put it..."You stabbed an American mother in the back."

Remember that CNN has much more resources world wide than FOX. From what I'm seeing, FOX has Amy Kellogg and one cameraperson. CNN might have several reporters and camerapersons there.

I'd still rather hear and see Amy kellogg from several blocks away from the theater than a rerun of O'Reilly, but in coverage of international events, it will take FOX many more years to catch up to the CNN presence. They will eventually, to be sure.

Exactly.

I watched him waiting for Sean Hannity. But not any more. I did watch him one time since then, to be honest. It was the night he was waxing eloquent on McBride and trashing Jeb Bush.

He really is a nasty little man, isn't he?

Yes, so would I. I really do not watch anything but Fox News for information any more. The trouble is that they had Amy on reporting on the situation and how it was changin rapidly, and they cut her off! to bring on the O'Reilly rerun.

Bad move.

When it was posted that they had gone back to Amy, I turned them back on. And the crawler says "Situation Under Control".

It is a case of a day late on this one. I still love the channel, though. ;^ )
