PUTIN - We could not rescue them all. Forgive us.
Lenta.ru ^ | 10-25-02 | Putin

Dear compatriots!

These days we have, together, gone through a terrible test. All our thoughts were with the hostages, in the hands of armed vermin. We hoped for the best outcome, but each of us understood, that it is necessary to be ready for the worst.

Today the rescue operation of this morning is done.
It was possible to do almost the impossible - to rescue the lives of hundreds, hundreds of people. We have proved, that Russia cannot be put on her knees.

But now I first of all want to address the families and relatives of those who were lost.

We could not rescue them all.

Forgive us.

Let the Memory of the victims unite us.

I thank all the citizens of Russia for their endurance and unity. Special gratitude to everyone who participated in the rescue operation. Special thanks to the employees of the special divisions who, without hesitation, risking their own lives, struggled for the rescue of the hostages.

We are grateful also to our friends all over the world, for their moral and practical support in our struggle against the same enemy. This enemy is strong and dangerous, brutal and severe. It is international terrorism. While it is not defeated, anywhere in the world, people can not feel safe.
But it should be defeated. And it will be defeated.

Today in the hospital I talked to one of victims. He said to me "It was not that terrible - there was a confidence among us, that the future of the terrorists is not enduring." And this is the truth. They do not have a future. We do.

PUTIN - "We could not rescue them all. Forgive us."

He's a class act. Its not often you see ANY political figure show compassion, humility, and a general care for his constituents as Putin did through his statement.

Putin is with us? I think not.

I'm thinking that perhaps Putin does not think we're with him yet.

Has our official policy regarding Chechnya changed yet? Do we officially realize that Russia is fighting radical Islamists in Chechnya, just as we are trying to fight them elsewhere?

The loss of the hostages is indeed tragic. The saving of the overwhelming majority of them is miraculous. The Russians had no other options.

There IS no other option than complete annaihilation of our Muslim foes.

This is a great speech by Putin. While regrettable that there were casualties among the hostages, it could have been, and would have been, much worse had the rescue attempt not been made.

They (the terrorists) do not have a future. We do. We being the Russians, Americans and any other civilized people.

"...and upon capture they need to be summarily executed."

I disagree. It's time to start making these monsters think twice about their actions. Brutal and inhumane as it may be, my suggestion:
Coat them in pig blood and hang them by their feet while broadcasting via satellite. Let the elements take them, slowly. No quick and merciful deaths for these things. Examples need to be set for all the other virgin seekers...

Come-on, folks! This is Russia! Remember ten years ago??!!

Aren't the Chechens Muslies? Putin knows what another Muslim theocracy will mean to Russia: continual terrorism.

Let Chechens have their independence when they've exterminated the vermin.

they should retaliate against the chechens 100:1

Consider that would involve descending to the level of terrorism. This will take time, but all the terrorist organizations will be smashed and terrorists will find it near impossible to meet without suspecting each other of being a government agent. Terrorists will betray each other, they already do so, and at an increasing rate.

we don't recognise russia's problem with islamofascists, just like we don't recognise Israel's problem with them either...

We should, and we should NOW.
We should cut them the slack they need to save their nations from islamic terrorists.

If we cut them a check, Israel, India and Russia, would go for the jugular, by tomorrow morning.
