Ventura Appoints Independent to Replace Wellstone NewsMax Monday Nov. 4, 2002 Today, Governor Jesse Ventura, mindful of his state's tradition of voting for third party candidates, appointed Minnesota Planning Director Dean Barkley to serve in place of deceased Sen. Paul Wellstone for the rest of the congressional session. Ventura made the announcement right in the middle of this morning's debate between Norm Coleman and Walter Mondale, the two candidates vying for Wellstone's seat.

A democrat governor names a Democrat to replace a Republican Senator, a Republican governor--expected to behave like the loyal opposition for the Democrat(Communist) party--names a Democrat to replace a Democrat Senator. An Independence Party Governor names an Independence Party member to replace a Democrat, and when he explains why and that the media is complicit in keeping the third party movement down C-Span which was having no technical difficulties pulls the plug and then says it was technical difficulties!

This is a good move. Dems lose one seat until at least January.

Barkley's no conservative. He was director of the lefty "Common Cause" organization. He was also an attorney.

He will do, Unlike Democrats and Republicans who have the party boss masters to toe the line by, though I must say here that Repubs do it less than Demorats, as Jesse said he would do and that is put the interest of the People above that of any political party. He in short will be a statesman first and foremost. We have darn few of those in Congress and none in the Senate, until now.

It would be in the best interest of the Republicans to go to this guy and see just what he is looking for. If they can help him where he feels his state needs help and they get him to caucus with them then, I hate to say this, Spent Lott(remember this man was a Demorat) becomes majority leader again and if he is smart, which he isn't, he will refuse the Share power crap that he did before and get the judges and budget done.

I don't need NewsMax to report what they saw on tv, read in the newspaper, heard on the radio, or dreamed last night.

Then I take it, except for the few times a month he actually breaks a story you feel the same about Drudge??

Drudge is a little different. He links before the stories are up. The big newspapers use him to plug upcoming news.

And, to the best of my knowledge he doesn't sit on his ass copying (incorrectly at that) articles off the USAToday web site and slapping his own byline on them.

Okay, I copy and to admit why I went there, They were the first one I could reach. The Drudgelink, as a testiment to his popularity, was swamped. I wanted to post the basic information and also my observation of C-Span politics as usual reaction. That is the reason I used Newsmax. If I had gotten in on the Drudge link I would of used that to post the info and start the thread.
