A Wink and a Nod to Voter Fraud
Self | Nov 4, 2002 | The Duke

I noticed this afternoon while watching FOX news that there was only a passing mention of cases of voter fraud that have recently been brought to light. The host of the program simply flashed his winning smile and quickly and seamlessly switched to another topic.

Why shouldn't voting fraud be taken as a serious matter in ths country? I find it totally outrageous that tomorrow I will take the time to go cast my ballot, only to have my vote negated by some criminal enterprise - only to have some yuppie news reporter treat it with a smarmy smile and gleam in his eye.

Proven incidents of voter fraud should result in serious, hard prison time for the perpetrators, coupled with the turning over of their personal holdings to the IRS to be place back into the "general fund".

TOPICS: Your Opinion/Questions
KEYWORDS: democrats; voterfraud
And, one final question, why is it that only the Republicans are interested in monitoring for incidents of voter fraud?

(Pardon my slight grammar error, I erroneously assumed there was an opportunity to preview before the posting went public - as is the case with the posting of replies).

Personally, I think it should be a capital crime, and considered a specific case of Treason.

Messing with our electoral process, the very foundation of our representative government, is a clear example of "giving aid and comfort" to the enemies of our system.

Republicans are concerned because they still have a modicum of concern and responsibility not to turn the USofA into a banana republic. Everyone with a couple of brain cells to rub together knows the Democrats screamed fraud in Florida, because they were caught red handed. They knew their co-conspirators in the press would not blow the lid off so they pointed the finger first and yelled fraud, and very loudly too.

It didn't fool anyone but their plantation population.

I'm of the school that says ballots should be handled with the same care and paranoia that accompanies nuclear weapons, because ballots determine who commands the nuclear weapons.

The same reason that only store keepers monitor for shoplifters

I second that opinion. There should be zero tolerance for any vote tampering regardless of party.

Heh -- I wrote the above about an hour before I ran across the following transcript of Peggy Noonan talking about voter fraud on Hannity and Colmes:

NOONAN: Look, here's the big problem.
COLMES: What are they afraid of?
NOONAN: The worst thing that could happen Tuesday is that there are a lot of cases of treason. What do I mean by treason?
COLMES: Treason?
NOONAN: Yes. What do I mean by treason? I mean finagling with the vote. I mean stealing votes. I mean illegal voting. I mean dead people voting. I mean...
COLMES: Yes, there should be...
NOONAN: ... voter...
COLMES: All right. Then why...
NOONAN: We are in trouble...
HANNITY: Good point.
NOONAN: ... in this country, and the...
COLMES: You know what, Peggy? You're...
NOONAN: Alan, let me just say it. We're in trouble in this country in the world. We face extraordinary challenges. We cannot take it on the chin as a democracy again. We can't damage ourselves again. We can't damage ourself from one of this country to the other. I think anyone who does that will be guilty of a terrible sin against democracy...
Two great minds... :-)

You haven't been listening to Donna Brazile, it's "intimidation and harassment."

I'd get onboard with that!
