Poll-watchers present in my district in NJ. Anyone else?

Much to my surprise, there were sanctioned poll watchers at my polling place in South Jersey this year. As we are in a Democrat district, I see this as very good news indeed. This is the first time I've ever seen them there. The old ladies running the show were very annoyed with them and made it obvious that they weren't wanted.
Anyone else notice this? Could be a good sign.

I wonder if there are many in Philidelphia where 110% of the people vote.

For Mike Fisher's sake, I hope so. There's no depth to which Ed Rendell wouldn't sink to win an election. He is a rogue, a charlatan, and a liar.

Yeah the Forrester campaign set this up. I believe this is the first time Republicans have had poll watchers to such a large extent since 1982. In 82 the Republicans hired a bunch of off duty state troopers to be poll watchers and this scared off a lot of people who would have voted for the Democrats in places like Essex and Camden.

I'm in a suburban district slightly south of Trenton and we've always had poll watchers. They are usually party activists, one from each party, so there may be three or four depending. I've never seen anyone challenged though.

Maybe those are the people who have the last minute Democrat call list and bring in the fraudulent voters to vote in place of those who haven't yet shown up.

I'm in Camden County (not the city, though). This is excellent news. We may have a fighting chance in NJ yet!

I just got back from voting here in Houston, TX. We had to show our drivers liscense and we received an add-on ballot. No big deal. Are not these the things that the Dems say will send their voters into a tail spin? What a joke. I voted mostly staight ticket(couple low level Dem judges I like). I'm driving my mom and dad down later. My moms' back went out last night so my dad has to get her up on her feet.

Possibly. But the negative reaction of the folks running the polls in my Democrat-dominated district seemed indicate otherwise.

Actually, they looked more like Iraqis. That might explain the 98% exit polling for Saddam Hussein in Camden County.

Out here in fly-over country we don't need no steenkin' poll watchers ...

Yeah, but here on the east coast, we need to arm the poll watchers with garlic and crucifixes and put them in INS jackets. Then, maybe the Republicans would have a fighting chance.

Howdy neighbor! I live in a Democrat stronghold, (billion-dollar debt, confiscatory taxes) and I noticed the lawn signs favored Forrester 10-1. What does that mean? It certainly doesn't mean that Lousenberg supporters have "seen the light"... It means the legions of brain-dead democrats in my area, despite their embarassment and shame, will still vote for a miserable louse as long as he has a "D" after his name! Bob Grant calls the voters in New Jersey political morons, but anyone that votes for the Louse, and knows him for the creep that he is, is far worse than a moron.

I didn't notice today, but during the gubernatorial and Presidential elections in 2001 and 2000, respectively, we had numerous poll watchers throughout the day in VA. We welcome them here. They're just asked to keep their questions to a minimum, so as not to impede voter flow. But they have access to the entire polling area.

I didn't see any when I voted. The polls had only been open 20 minutes though.

I won't say the name of our town, but here's a hint: It made the news earlier this year because perhaps the largest property tax increase in the area was on the ballot. This Dem stronghold declined the increase with an overwhelming vote of "NO", but council voted to raise our taxes, anyway. Afterward, my husband was so mad that he got involved with the local GOP committee. If our neighbors don't vote GOP locally, at least, after the Dems raised our taxes again and again, I will be shocked...
P.S. I was going to vote straight LP outside our little town, but I might vote for Forrester since the election looks so tight.

There are poll watchers in the People's Republic of Piscataway. That's a first.
However, there's a very acrimonious local election going on here too.
To: FBDinNJ
I wanted to point out that democrat attorneys are at
various polls throughout the country to respond
instantly to any claims of alleged wrong doing.
This is a perfect setup for deciding elections in the
courts!
To: Antoninus
My wife said that there was a clearly identified Democrat and Republican poll watcher at our voting place in Piscataway. I haven't gone to vote yet but I'll see if they are still there when I go.
"About time!" is my reaction. I'm all for showing ID, too.
To: Antoninus
Don't know anything about poll watchers but I know this:
Right now exit polls show us dead even statewide. We're up in Bergen and Burlington and even in Mercer, Union and Passaic. Turnout is heavy in Boonton.
Get out and vote. We've got to get our base motivated!!!

If the citizens of NJ elect Frank Lousenberg, they will be proving Mr. Grant correct -- again! Let's make sure that doesn't happen!

That wouldn't be a certain town with the initials C.H. would it? They've done that as well. The people here are schitzophrenic -- they don't want higher taxes, yet they won't vote out the people who continually ram them down our throats. I'm praying for a change this time around!

Me too. This vote fraud has got to go. Out with Laut in 2002!

I voted in Jersey City (Hudson Co.) this morning. There was a person back 10-15 feet beyond the table where you register. They told her my name and address. I asked who she was, they said he was there to monitor the vote ( I thought she said challenger, but I am not sure). I then asked who she was working for. She mentioned Tom Degise (D) candidate for the county executive. It was interesting to see this, as I had read about the practice on FR earlier in the week.

Nope, we don't live in Cherry Hill. We live in a blue collar town, and, from what I've heard, Cherry Hill's property taxes (or, at least, school taxes) are actually lower than ours, even though our properties are worth much less.
The second word in our name is "Hill", though. I'll see if I can find an article quickly...

Hearing reports of problems in Hudson County -- Forrester levers are sticking (hard to pull)... Campaign has been notified and is working on the problem.
To: Antoninus
Not here. THough, I was armed with a camera and a massive can of FReep*$$ all day. Not much need for poll watchers up by me. Now, move into coastal counties and it's a different story.
During the Schundler campaign, some 14,000 voters where registered both here and in NYC. ~13,000 RAT of that total. This from a Schundler lawyer last night.
