Pretty much. I have a friend who's daughter went to that school for a while. As a freshman her friends dared her to take 8 or so sudafed sinus tablets. Of course being a brain-dead, anything to be cool freshman, she took the dare. Spent 4 months in Alternative School after having her stomach pumped. Didn't do alot for her attitude.
The Superintendent is an "Interim" Super. Probably wants the job and has to show the board he means business.
I can see a stay at the Alternative School, but not for 7 months. Couple of weeks.

"I can understand teenagers throwing aside self-control, but when they realize that stupid actions have consequences, they eventually (hopefully) learn to act like adults."I guess 'you' have always been an adult. Must be boring to be you.

Part of that learning process is that the consequences are proportional to the action. If your premise holds true, the poor boy will think vandalism will get him the chair. And sometimes life isn't all that fair. Just because a worse offense carries the same punishment, doesn't mean that the lesser offense is disproportionally punished . The point is, the kid deserves some sort of punishment.
I think that too often administrators hide behind cookie-cutter school rules and zero-tolerance policies, without any care for true justice. And too often, parents of the worst brats constantly make excuses for their little imps, and their precious little spawn never learn to function in the real world, except to hate those who disagree with them.
Look, if this were my kid, he'd not only be lectured to death, but IF I really thought the punishment had long-term consequences that were truly hurtful, I'd talk to the administrator privately, while not telling my kid, so as to scared the * of him and let him really think about his stupidity. IF it became a matter of fighting the system publicly, I wouldn't be making excuses for my child, but rather I would explain to him that while there is a real need pursue justice for its own sake, I have no sympathy for his plight. That's quite a different animal, than defending idiotic wrongdoing.

Huh? About 5 years ago at my kid's High School, in nearby Pasadena, there was a cheerleader scandal!! You think "Cheerleaders, not possible". Yes, I tell you they are guilty of stupidity as well.
The cheerleaders were at a summer camp in San Antonio. Stayed in nice hotel with glass outside elevators. These little darlings, some of them in bathing suits (read bikini), some not, decided to flash anyone who was outside the elevators. Hotel guests complained. It got some press, the girls were lectured, but I don't believe that any of the girls were kicked off the squad or had to go to Guidance Center.
Year before last, one of the drill team officers decided that since her parents were out of town, she would have a party. The party was complete with teenagers, pizza and alcohol. The police arrived and broke it up. The drill team officer was using coolers for the beer that were stamped "Property of SRHS Texanns". She was kicked of the squad. Their director is pretty strict with the girls, expectations are expectations, the rules apply to everyone and there is that little Code of Conduct thingy that the girls sign each year.
So yes beautiful young girls do these damfool things.

Lombrana's parents on Thursday asked a judge to soften the punishment, which they say is harsh. Another set of loser parents.
Where do these morons come from?
Life is harsh folks.
Actions have consequences.
If you have allowed your little darling to believe otherwise, you have failed as parents.
And now you're compounding the failure by seeking to have the courts endorse your failings.
Get a life.

While I applaud his "school spirit"...he is still in the Minor Leagues.
This is what you have to do to get to the Major Leagues:

I asked some 10th graders in my Sunday School class what happened.
The LaPorte band and drill team performed. They were given a standing ovation from the home team, Deer Park.
Deer Park's band and drill team went on to the field. The band was booed. They marched to the side. The drill team was doing a father/daughter performance, their backs to the visiting team. They were booed as they marched part of the way onto the field. Then the two little darlings darted out between the girls and their fathers at the 50 yard line.
Of course the kids in my class thought it was all great fun. Some of the parents thought the best part of the idiocy was when the boys were tackled by the police on the field.
Apparenly many people were ejected from the stadium over the whole fiasco.
LaPorte students and parents have more going on with their attitudes in general than the 2 boys streaking. Manners would be a great start.

an arrest for indecent exposure on one's record can be a pretty uncomfortable thing to have to explain to, say, a prospective employer...or a parole officer... Kind of off-topic but speaking of consequences...
Did you see the thread about the father sueing because his son didn't win a MVP award?
Croteau said his son was "so hurt and damaged" after losing the awards in front of 250 people that night he came home and shoved his hockey equipment into a corner, saying he had no interest in playing again.
"He was so sure of himself he took $50 of his own money to buy a nice shirt and tie to look good that night," he said. "And he was just humiliated."

Here's what's really funny... the kid was humilated when he lost, but thanks to his dear old dad, he's REALLY humiliated now. This morning I clicked on Fox & Friends and they were just having a blast with this story, laughing at this kid who now "has no interest in playing again", oh boo-hoo and all that, just like the replies on the thread. If he (or rather his father) had been a gracious loser, they wouldn't be mocked on NATIONAL TV, lol. Bet it was the talk of the town.

"Thanks for letting me know just how imperceptive you are."oops.... I stand corrected. Done anything exciting lately? Wanna go out? I promise I am not boring either;-)

Been there; done that.
Jeeze, it was funny and harmless. What a bunch of pansies we've all become.
In 12th grade, my best friend and I would streak through the halls after swim practice. We were bored and it was risky fun.
One day, we streaked past the cafeteria (big windows) during the girls gymnastic team awards banquet. Wet towels over our heads.
But we were locked out of the locker room when we ran back. My dad caught us outside the door, down the hallway, when he got tired of waiting in the parking lot. Big, SE grin on his face, and he never said a word, after laughing his a** off.
He went buy the awards banquet on the way in, and saw all the people looking through the windows like something happened.

How come beautiful young girls with perfect bodies never do these damfool things? :-) No problem...I'll take care of that at our community's next basketball game, O.K.? Ha ha ha!

I agree. The punishment he'd get from his peers would be enough. Maybe it should go on his record, but to affect the rest of his life? Come on.
