>>>ugh, Friggin' Hillbillies, let it goooooo...<<<

The flag is a symbol of a state of mind...of independence from D.C.'s bureaucrats & I.R.S. Why don't the D.C. bureaucrats back off with the central-planning & race card-playing, and give Southern states reparations? Here is a thread discussing some of the illegal Northern attrocities in the South during the Civil War (and afterwards), which the revisionist media doesn't want us to notice:

Lincoln was a mentally ill (severely depressed) tyrant, who used slavery as an excuse to do what he wanted to do anyway. The after-affects linger on, as states such as Georgia have the nation's lowest S.A.T. average.

>>>Nice postings....I knew about women and college but not the rest.<<<

As recent electoral progress has demonstrated, the internet is great regarding truthseekers' getting the word out despite corrupted inertia that has previously stood in our way.

Cold Mountain was a real good read! But who is Jude Law and what else has he been in? I hope he's not a typical Hollyweird leftist? I hope I hope!

Hillbillies were not particularly well known for owning slaves. In fact, most mountainous parts of the South has strong Unionist leanings.

I share in your hope. But will Cold Mountain (about a jaded Confederate soldier) make the Southern Independence movement seem less justifiable than it was? Did the book?

Are you suggesting we abandon the Stars and Stripes? Or rather, that since both flags are tainted by slavery there is no point in discriminating? Either way you're making a case for a new US flag which is nonsense.

I've read a ton of that 'the Confederate Battle flag didn't stand for slavery' stuff, I've also read well researched historical work indicating that slavery was a peripheral issue to the war and that Lincoln latched onto the idea to prevent the British from aiding the south (which would have turned the tide of the war and led to a permanently divided United States--this by the way is an incredible counterfactual to think about: What would have happened in Europe in WWI or II? Would only the North or South have entered the war? Could the Germans have won? If not would the USSR have been the sole super power? Scary.)

In any case, the Klan's extensive use of the flag turned it into a symbol of racisim and hatred as objectionable as the swastika. I'm tired of southern conservatives being synonymous with racist rednecks and its time we put the Stars and Bars debate to rest. Let's recognize that a huge portion of the population find it offensive and move on. The Republican party may NEVER attract black or hispanic voters if we coddle the fringe racist elements of the right wing.

Speaking of black pro-Confederates, Walter Williams is substituting for Rush today. He just said he will have Ron Paul on in the next hour.

Has India, which is heavily populated by literal Arians who migrated from the Caucasus mountains over the centuries, put the swastika to rest? It remains a religious symbol that appears prevalently there to this day, does it not?

Also, there appears to be an increased interest in mysteries set in the South.

Jude Law was the paraplegic guy in Gattaca who (I seem to recall) sacrificed himself to help others overcome an oppressive system.

>>>Loserdopians<<<

Assuming I even know what that means, might that characteristic have anything to do with disenfranchisement resulting from the persistent Northern aggression which plagues the South to this day?

You folks are neglecting the really important news in this piece. They're finally starting to film Patrick O'Brian's Aubrey/Maturin books.

Not true.

It is. And I see you have flagged the jagoff. Revisionism can not stand against the facts - no matter how much posts you people spew to the contrary.

To further your points:

Owning slaves was expensive - the VAST majority of the whites in the south could not afford to own slaves. There were actually only a small percentage of slave owners in the south, mostly plantation owners.

Slavery could have been abolished in the south had the north simply put it's industrial know how towards fixing the problems of farm work. Had a machine been able to do the work of slaves and done so with less cost, existing slaves would have been 'dumped on the slave market because of the cost of housing and feeding the slave.

I have long contended that slavery was NOT the issue that started the cival war. However, when Lincon needed a complelling moral issue to keep the Union together, it became the issue that caused the greatest outcry with northern churches. Lincon then used this (as any smart politician would) to motivate his base.

Just my observations
