California lawmakers said they will not act until at least next month on $10.2 billion in midyear budget cuts proposed by Gov. Gray Davis that many of the majority Democrats say cut too deeply into schools and services for the poor.

Return to the 1998 budget, arrest the criminal aliens, and with their children, export them to relieve the over-crowded schools and exhauted medical resources.

- or tax personal firearms at $500 each/year and $1/cartridge.

Remember the election is over, what would we be reading if Davis had lost?

This annoying Leftist tax cut BS lingers throughout the article. Is there anyone who doesn't get the impression that we are being told;

  1. We don't need our money
  2. Bush's tax cuts "are" only benefitting us
  3. Leftists would justs as soon eliminate their tax cuts

Anyone ever considered what right the government has to tell us what to do with our money, or who needs it more?

Who didn't the tax cuts benefit from JFK and RR?

Who did the tax increases help in the last administration? Which part of the elderly sector is better off with higher taxes on Social Security?

What example is CA using that was successful?

LOFL!!! Now he pretends to worry about taxpayers.

I love the smell of a crashing and burning socialist Democrat scumbag government. Smells like..... a crashing and burning socialist Democrat scumbag government.

Republicans, meanwhile, have remained steadfast in their opposition to tax and fee increases and have vowed to withhold the handful of votes needed to approve budget measures by the required two-thirds margin.

How effective is the GOP whip in California?
I hope this isn't a lot of hot air. The Republicans must absolutely hold out forever against any tax increase whatsoever. Period. I like what the Senate GOP leader said: "I refuse to punish taxpayers because the liberals in Sacramento squandered the surplus."

Ernest_at_the_Beach,

All this stuff going on now is just posturing. I'm in Philly and not as up on California state politics as I would like to be. What do you see as the end game here?
Do the Republicans finally fold like a cheap suit?
Your opinion would be appreciated if you have the time.
Thanks.

Regards,
LH

Follow the Calgov2002 threads as the story unfolds! I think they will fight the Democrats for a while, but we will see tax increases !

Shawn Steel, the outgoing head of the GOP, said Republicans are more firmly committed to their anti-tax principles now that all of the GOP members who voted for previous Davis budgets are out of office.

"They have been turned out by the Republican Party," he told the Sacramento Press Club.

Steel, who said he will remain active in the party and stay on the state GOP board, said he would personally lead recall campaigns against members who vote to raise taxes.

"This is my pledge. Any Republican member who votes . . . for a tax increase -- this party will start an effort to recall that person, and he or she be out of office in 180 days," he said.

(Link to Shawn's promise to start recall on any Rino wanting more taxes) -----------------------------------------------------------

These Republican members of the Kali legislature come from solid republican voting areas. If they out themsselves as Rinos in favor of higher taxes, they will not be re elected.

The Kali fishwraps have been doing stories about the horrible budget cuts on front pages since the week after the election. Last week, our local left wing maggot editor/publisher had an editorial praising the idiotice bond issue passed for even more educational dollars and said that we need more courage to have even higher taxes to get rid of the deficit. Not one word about cutting the tax load of $'s for the dark side perverts and illegal aliens voting the Rats was in that editorial.

ABCNNBCBS local tv stations are running several PC tearful presentations each day of how horrible even the slightest budget cut will be to the leeches of the left.

These screams for higher taxes will get worse as the state's total tax intake continues to drop like a rock, thanks to Davis and the Burton led legislature and their tax the A$$es off of the Kali tax payer agenda the past 4 years.
