Why don't you hang out in back with the rest of us? Just twist the paper bag around the neck of the bottle and you're good to go. No one needs to know it's cream soda...

Here in NYC, you have to practically knock the guys in the bodegas and Korean delis in the head, before they'll give you a paper bag big enough to cover the bottle (otherwise, you get a summons and a fine from the cops). I think they want to get customers into trouble.

Man, I'll second that!! (It's ok even if NJ did copy the NY diners:-))

Ain't that the truth

Ayup. One time, I watched a teenager (couldn't have been 16) sit down in the booth across from mine. He was sweating, shaking, and generally nervous, his pupils were dilated, and he kept to himself. As I watched him during the next few minutes, I noticed that there was a pair of panty hose shoved into his jeans pocket, half hanging out. After a few minutes passed, I saw why he was so nervous - when he stood up and hurriedly walked out, a revolver was clearly visible tucked into his waistband under his jacket.

To this day, I still think he was going to rob the place but lost his nerve at the last minute.

What's the deal at Waffle House where the waitress goes to within 7-8 feet of the cook and yells the order at him?

That's a good question. Millie (the cook at the local WH) does the same thing - the cook is apparently either deaf or stupid.

Geez ... Millie works the counter, she's not the cook. They've never kept a cook for more than a few months.

Nope. I just remember fondly some of the things I got to play with (that went "BOOM") in the Marine Corps... like C-4 and det cord and TNT and such... bazookas and flame throwers and the like. (Nothing like playing with a flame thrower on a cold, chilly day!) Or the old M-79 Blooper... I love pyrotechnics, even to the lowly smoke grenades... would love to learn if you need an older apprentice!

Denny's is a great place if you like to sit around and wait twenty minutes before a waitress comes to your table. Usually I end up leaving. OTOH if you are black you can charge racial discrimination for this and make a lot of cash. It worked for a few Secret Service agents at an Annapolis Denny's about ten years ago. Denny's does not really discriminate. Everyone gets crappy service!

A Waffle House would be wonderful for 'em. Too bad the zeitgeist isn't there to support one.

Waffle House sounds great! Buy a franchise, we've got the building and the land for you ready and waiting (along with the employees too!)

What!? Another Denny's up and leaving! Are bacon, eggs and pancakes cheaper to make in Mexico? Is there no end to free trade's tyranny? LOL!

Can you get your eggs scrambled in Michigan? That's the only way I know how to eat them in Texas. :)

I feel for you, the Farmer's Slam is my favorite for a late night, after class meal. Well except for every third Tuesday. The AA meetings are held at that time and it gets pretty roudy but the chicks seem to always look you up and down a couple of times. ;>

Go on, tell me again how happy you are you left Michigan... OK. Right now, it's 50°F in Las Vegas. And we got all the 24 hour eateries you can think of. Hows that?

There are at least 2 Denny's within a 4 mile radius of the house. IHOP is just down the road - and just up the road.

Oh, probably at least 6 casinos, with very good restaurants, within a 15 - 20 minute drive

Just thought I'd add a bit of clarity to what WG said.

I also have to tell you that my 8 yr old loves Denny's, but I think his love is more for the claw machine than for the food.

It's now 48 F. Forcast of 60 - something tomorrow.

Understand that the Clintons before they entered public office , ate at Denny's in Little Rock...

As they progressed eating on the public dole with each advancement in public office , and then, finally after eight years of free meals at the White House, they were caught stealing the silverware when they left...... by Registered.

Show me a place in this country where you can get a rare hamburger or steak or a steak tartare and I'll be there lickety split! Dude, you could be a radical revolutionary in this country serving one of those!
