Well when David Duke creates a synthetic holiday for white people I'm sure we can count on a liberal President acknowledging it by Proclamation.

Duke could call the holiday "Klanzaa" and just change any reference from black to white. Both holidays would be equally racist.

Nope. Ann's certainly not a sheeple! She is the gutsy columnist who always defends me! I am forever grateful to her for that.

My life is always better after reading Ann Coulter, Thomas Sowell, and David Limbaugh!

Once again ignorant people are duped. Embarrassing. Wish President Bush had NOT done this. But of course, this celebration DOES have its own Hallmark card. ;)

"Kwanzaa celebrates "traditional African values" and "uniting people of diverse backgrounds and beliefs."

Sometimes when I think George II can't possibly sound any stoopider, he sets yet another standard of personal best. From what the news reports show, a "traditional African value" is, in fact, the slaughter -- by the most gruesome means available -- of "people of diverse backgrounds and beliefs."

Just so everyone knows. This is not a new article from Ann Coulter. It is an excellent piece but all she did was change the first paragraph condemning Bill Clinton for recognizing this racist holiday to mentioning Trent Lott and condemning George Bush. Other than that, the article is identical to one she wrote years ago. I wish she would have found more information to add, but she didn't. But, I still love her - go Ann!

Funny how the article fit Bill Clinton as much as it fit George W. Bush. Maybe, that was Ann's intention by recycling a years-old article and only changing the names of the guilty.

Kwanzaa is silly Afro Marxist tripe in Christian dress.

President Bush is our first conservative multiculturalist as President.

It is just another hole the president has dug himself into.

Namely his stance on the open and unfettered border we have with Mexico or where ever "wets" are impatiently waiting to get their gratis share of this the greatest nation on earth.

It really isn't funny that Bush is really a liberal.

By chance do you have the original one with Clinton instead of Bush? If so can you post it?

Many conservatives seem to think Republicans have turned the corner on their "race problem" by having forced Lott's resignation. I fear they're fooling themselves.

Let's recognize that there are two distinct, yet related aspects to the Republicans' problem with black voters. One is the perception that they deliberately court Southern voters by using "code words" appealing to their presumed bigotry.

Democrats are feverishly capitalizing on the Lott affair to foster this perception. And it's not just fringe Democrats. Indeed the two most prominent Democrats in the nation, Bill and Hillary Clinton – though I'm sure they still don't confer about politics at the breakfast table – "coincidentally" warned Republicans against letting their guard down post-Lott. Said Hillary, "if anyone thinks that one person stepping down from a leadership position cleanses the Republican Party of their constant exploitation of race, then I think they're naïve."

I've been in politics all my life, and I've never heard any Republican speak about a strategy to win the South by using symbolic language to appeal to closet Klansmen. Sure, I know of Republican electoral reliance on the South, but I haven't thought of that in terms of race. I don't think that way, nor do any other Republicans I know.

Nor do I buy for a second that Ronald Reagan was talking code when he championed states' rights. He happened to believe in that relic, the 10th Amendment, and the doctrine of federalism.

Political conservatism, in line with the framers' worldview, is grounded in the axiom that freedom depends on restraints on government and dividing and diffusing governmental power. That certain antebellum Southern racists may have proffered the states' rights argument to justify their "right" to preserve slavery is reprehensible. But we can't allow even gross abuses of freedom to cause us to surrender our freedom itself.

Anyone who thinks that talking up Kwanzaa will help the Republicans win black votes is totally out to lunch.

The huge majority of blacks are Southern Baptists, various other kinds of Protestants, Catholics, or Black Muslims.

Frankly the best way the Republicans could address blacks, who are socially conservative (except for the losers who deal drugs and run in urban gangs), is to point out that the Democrat party is the party of abortion. Why do they want to vote for a party that kills babies, breaks up families, corrupts the country, refuses to protect inner city residents from violence, and refuses to let them choose their own schools?

Such an approach would appeal to Hispanics, and I think it would appeal to blacks, too. It wouldn't get the criminal votes, but who wants that (other than Democrats)? This business of sidling toward liberalism in order to appeal to blacks won't work in a million years. If they want real liberals, they know who to vote for.
