look up Christchurch...I was fortunate to visit NZ on a business trip several years ago.
Be a tourist! Take the gondola ride and eat at the Summit Cafe (it'll cost you).
But the view is spectacular!
Enjoy your trip.

Been twice to New Zealand on business. Was lucky enough to visit Ringatolo {sic} Island twice. Auckland is truly a beautiful place.

Happy New Year from Brooklyn New York!
BTW: Your country (like ours) may have some nutty politicians. Nevertheless, at least you Kiwis were sensible enough to abolish your central bank (we're still stuck with the God-awful Federal Reserve).

Wow!! Check out some rugby while you are over there. Have a feast with the Maori's and God willing you will not meet any of my relatives. (They're liberal..UGH) Other than that, enjoy the island!! Happy New Year! Oh!! Do the Haka while you are there!! LOL!

Mr. Ditter & I spent 3 fabulous weeks in NZ in 2001. What a beautiful place. Be sure you get to Queensland & while you are there fly over the Southern Alps.

,,, happy New Year GRRRRR, from Wellington. My "holiday" in Dunedin ran Dec 29 thru Jan 4 and I'd rate it ten out of ten. The weather couldn't have been better and there's so much to do and see there. Check out Tairoa Head at the end of Otago Peninsula. The scenery is spectacular. We took the kids on a tour by Argo to see Yellow Eyed penguins and three week old seal pups there.
Enjoy your time in New Zealand and it's great to see you got down here for a look around!

,,, flew back from Dunedin to Wellington on Jan 4th and stopped at Christchurch for three hours. The Alps are top heavy with snow right now - unusual for January but breathtakingly beautiful. Happy New Year!

Ah.... New Zealand.
I trust you've been to Milford Sound (I did some kyaking and encountered some seals) and Fox Glacier (the hiking is wonderful).
Of the two great cities: Auckland and Wellington... I was most impressed with Wellington. The tour group I was with took a ferry from the South Island to the North, disembarking in Wellington. I went to an Irish Pub after a great steak diner and met some very beautiful German women (one was from Hamburg, the other, from Germany, but lived in Geelong (spelling), Australia. Memories!
I WILL be back.
