T.F Green Airport in Rhode Island is having ALL passengers disembark due to unscreened baggage

A friend who has relatives flying just told me that all the planes at the T.L Green Airport in Warwick Rhode Island have been de-boarded and all passengers must be re-screened. Expect MAJOR delays if your loved ones are flying out of or into this Airport.

Ah, for the good old days when they only sent your checked bags to Guatemala when you were flying to Chicago.

It is a cruddy day here, too, with snow and car accidents all over the place. And those flying folks probably just want to get to someplace warm.

They have an airport in Rhode Island? Isn't it quicker to walk?

I sure hope this doesn't happen again on Friday! Our #2 son is flying out of T.F. Green on his way back to school that day.

I caught a blurb on Fox News last night about a screener falling asleep on the job, so they evacuated the entire airport!

These people have an over-inflated sense of their own importance to national security.

LOL!! Actually, T.F. Green is a great airport! It is MUCH easier to get in and out of than Logan in Boston. Parking is not the nightmare, or as expensive as Logan, and the terminal just seems more traveler friendly! Now, if the fares were just a little lower, like Logan, it would be perfect!! But even with the slightly higher fares, we much prefer Green!

Actually when my husband, who flies constantly, needs to book a flight on short notice he flies out of Green. The fares are usually much more favorable than those at Logan.
It might be a bit of a hike, from our South of Boston home, but one never knows when you will sit on the S.E. Xpressway all day. Green's parking is wonderful and they also have valet parking!

Yup. Plus, you can get hot wieners, clamcakes, stuffies, and coffee milk on your way to the airport - And Allie's Donuts, too, if you're willing to take a short detour through South County. ;-)

Seriously, I was surprised to hear this. I flew out of TFG yesterday morning, and, although they were still adapting to 100% screening of checked baggage, I thought that they were doing a pretty good job. The security gate people seemed a lot more competent, and were much more pleasant to deal with, than they were at O'Hare on the flipside of my trip.

I used to fly out of Green a fair amount until Manchester, NH did its improvements. Even from southern NH, Green is easier (more pleasant) to get to than Logan. (Flew out of Logan yesterday because I couldn't get anything comparable from Manchester...what a zoo.)

I've never tried flying out of Manchester NH. I'm usually flying down South, so going out of Boston is cheaper either on Delta thru Atlanta or Northwest thru Memphis. I'll have to check Manchester next time, though

I usually check Green first, especially for our son who's at school in Pittsburgh; there's a direct, non-stop flight from PIT to PVD!

Flying on business I have to check rates out of Manchester and Logan. 9 times out of 10 I can get an equivalent deal out of Manchester.

Absolutely - we've flown in and out of T. F. Green on Southwest and it's everything you say. Logan is a nightmare, Bradley International in Hartford is getting kinda crazy too.

The funny thing about T. F. Green is that it's named after Teddy (U. S. Senator Theodore F. Green), who was one of the most corrupt (and that's saying a lot) Democratic politicians ever to come out of the beautiful little state of my birth, Rhode Island.

Teddy Green was the guy that made my formerly Democratic dad go Republican because he was ready to vomit at the corruption.

How many more Winter Texans (snow birds) do you still have left there? I had assumed they were all now here in South Texas.

It's actually a very nice airport, and a lot easier to get to and park at than Logan Airport in Boston.
