By TY PHILLIPS BEE STAFF WRITER As the widespread search for Laci Peterson continued Monday, nine divers spent a second consecutive day focusing on a small section of Lake Tulloch.
Sheriff's divers from Stanislaus and Calaveras counties concentrated in the area under O'Byrnes Ferry Bridge at the border of Tuolumne and Calaveras counties.
Patrick Kelly, a member of the Stanislaus dive team, said he didn't know whether a tip or evidence might have pointed investigators to Tulloch, but nothing had been found there so far.
Police did not return calls seeking comment about the Lake Tulloch search effort Monday.
At an afternoon news conference, police said there were no significant developments in the case, now in its second week.
Laci Peterson was reported missing on Christmas Eve. Her husband, Scott Peterson, told police he last saw her that morning as he left for a fishing trip at the Berkeley Marina.
The last time Laci Peterson is known to have spoken with anyone other than her husband was Dec. 23 about 8:30 p.m. when she had a phone conversation with her mother, police said.

Look, this is nonsense. All these well meaning decent people tying ribbons to trees, putting posters up etc. They're wasting their time.
Get this moron of a husband in a back room, start beating him with a rubber hose until he breaks and tells you where he dumped her body. It's quicker, it's more direct, and her family will appreciate not having to let this charade drag out for years without getting the body of their daughter back.
Surely there must be some valiant Freepers in this area that can drive over and administer the pummelingto this cretin! How about it!
To: ladysusan
I suppose anything is possible. Motive, opportunity, and means. The baby is a possible motive, then we have to look at who had the opportunity, and the means!

I'm betting the cops already figured out he murdered her and are continuing to let his story change and unravel.
I saw Mark Furman on with Greta Van last night, and he sounded like solving this one this was like cracking a soft peanut.
A day or two more, and this guys cuffed.

The impression I got was the dogs had followed her to a spot that indicated she got/was forced into a car. If true, wouldn't that indicate she had walked to a spot.
Otherwise, it would be possible if the husband is involved, he could have done it the night before.
Recently I haven't heard any mention of the neighborhood robbery that took place about the same time.

I agree that the signs all point to the husband. I only hope someone saw something that will bring quick resolution!

I absolutely agree it was the husband. And if it proves true-can ou even imagine. Murdering your wife, who is 8 onths pregnant on Christmas eve? I am not sure of it but it really seems we are breeding more and more sociopaths everyday!

I didn't hear that, but I hope he did.
A few years back, on L.I. NY, a wife disappeared right before X-Mas. Concerned hubby did teary interviews and actually led the search parties for a few days.
They nailed him for the murder in about 5 days.
Furman was big on why the hubby kept the reciept from the marina. Said if the guy's not the sort who saves every reciept it'll be his undoing....as in how did know he'd need an something to establish his presence somewhere?

To: Doc Savage
There is a local real estate man here in my neighborhood (Long Beach, CA) who is under even more suspicion for murdering his wife than Mr. Petersen, yet he just goes about his business as if nothing is wrong.
His wife was not seen by anyone other than him for a whole weekend (early in 2002, I believe), and what is worse, she missed appointments she had carefully set up with her personal trainer and her mother over that weekend, and when those people called her, no one answered the phone. This was completely uncharacteristic for this woman not to return phone calls, especially as the mom's calls grew more concerned. Hubby says they were just having a nice cozy weekend together and didn't want to be bothered. Neighbors reported some suspicious activity which I now forget. Husband says his wife left for work Monday morning as usual, but she certainly never showed up. Her car and purse, with some of her blood in the car, were found at some unconnected underground garage.
Everyone suspects the husband, even the police, but with no body, I guess they don't have enough to nail him. He is just walking around, shopping, living his life, and it's more than a little freaky.

I wonder how many husbands go fishing on Christmas Eve?

Your post is a prime example of how much evidence needs to be gathered to induce an indicument on murder. DNA cannot totally convict, a good defence lawyer can explain away all of the evedence, I've seen it on many occasions.
Theres nothing like a confession to guilt. The LE hands are tied without a body or confession.

Should any of the above marry incarcerated convicted murderers or even correspond with them as often as women I will happily accept your amendment. I am constantly astonished by such tales of the gullibility of women aren't you?
When men do such idiotic things there is generally some ostensibily redeeming feature in the woman he pursues such as sexiness or beauty. With the murderer marriers there is nothing but shear perversity or simplemindedness. Sorry if you don't approve.

Excellent point.
I was on a jury for a murder... the DA wanted us to convict for 1st degree murder because the husband said "I am going to lake tahoe" instead of 'we' are going to Lake Tahoe.
lame.

To: landerwy
The police are asking that anyone who saw the husband on Christmas Eve come forward and corroborate his testimony. Since the husband has declined to go on TV, that's a little difficult. You would think that the guy would want his picture all over the tv, if he was really where he said he was, when he said he was.

DNA cannot totally convict, a good defence lawyer can explain away all of the evedence, I've seen it on many occasions. Yes. In the local case here, the wife's blood in the car tells the world that probably she met her demise due to foul play, but of course there is always that "possibility" that the woman, who completely disappeared off the face of the earth before they found the car in a strange place with some blood in it, simply had a minor cut and that's how the blood got there. Sigh.

I don't know about you, but I know for a fact that I have left my blood in numerous cars, but I am still here alive & kicking. It would be a travesty to convict or even accuse someone of murder just because of blood in a car.

Several news reports have said she was seen Tuesday morning walking the dog by a neighbor/someone. I'll try to dig up a link if I have time.

I don't know why nobody has mentioned this possibility:
- The husband reads an article about sturgeon fishing just before Laci disappears.
- Laci has not been seen or heard of since 8:30 the night before.
- Scott is a fertilizer salesman with a warehouse where he keeps and possibly bags (here I'm speculating) the fertilizer he sells.
- He goes fishing to a spot 150 miles from home--a place known for its sturgeon fishing.
- Sturgeon like pickled herring and chunks of meat.
As grisly as this scenario sounds, it makes sense.

I'm praying that Laci was kidnapped for her baby and that she's being held until she delivers. I'm hopeful that she'll be found, soon. If not, doctors, nurses, clinics, (all the way to the Mexican border) need to be on the look-out for newborns that were adopted.

LE will leak some specific info that dose not exist, in this case I would say the receipt that was supposed to be in scotts truck from the boat ramp, this is the first sign that LE suspects he could have done it. Even tho the receipt dose not exist in a panic to hide something he may have not remenbered whether he got the receipt or not. I have not tracked these threads to verify what agency says the receipt exists, and it possibly could, I'm just assuming it dose not. Could someone search to verify it dose exist, or is it from an unnamed source.

Ever notice that every time a serial killer is nailed the neighbors talk about how "kind", "quiet" and "helpful" he was?
And, of course, the media reports it as if the police just tore a model citizen from his neighborhood...
