Ending dividend tax, extend unemployment benefits retroactively, move up tax credits from 2004 for things like child credits, mentioned ending the marriage tax, $3,000 in helping unemployed to aid job search - can use for transportation, relocation, child care while searching, etc. $3.6B to states to help unemployed. Wants to encourage consumer spending, confidence in markets, help unemployed, reduce tax burden by $98B this year and $678B over 10 years. Urges Congress to act swiftly. Applause is lukewarm.

I guess you never heard of 401Ks. Or did you forget capitalism is good for everyone?
To: RnMomof7
You are either so poor you don't pay taxes or are so rich you don't care about a rebate. What part of a reduction in taxes for EVERYONE don't you understand? Going to run an errand but look forward to reading all comments here.

. What part of a reduction in taxes for EVERYONE don't you understand? What part of most Americans will not have much benefit do you not understand..Please understand I do not think the Dems plan will help most of us either..it is too late I am afraid..
All that NEW job creation will be in Mexico and China..it will hasten their moves out of the country by putting more money in the hands of corps
The rich will get richer and industial and some teck workers will see their jobs go off shore more quickly

I sure thought I heard W say something about accelerating individual tax cuts retroactively and getting rid of the marriage penalty tax.
Far from wealthy, my household income put us into the "rich" for last year. Tax cuts are more than welcome.

Thank You, Rush, Liebralism is a disease.. Ferraro is one more kook in the crowd of babbling buffoons and boisterous know-nothings.

To: RnMomof7
I'm not trying to be argumentative and I really am running out for a hair appt. but how will giving a tax credit for child care, more unemployment $$ to people who need it, and reducing EVERYONE's taxes (including the so-called normal people) send money overseas? Tax reduction seems to help everyone; we are overtaxed and that has long been a Republican platform which I fully support. Will check in later. Regards

I listened to part of his speech and I think his poll numbers are going to drop considerably in the near to not to distant future...
this will play badly for the congress and senate in 2004...
he has been superb as the protector of America - but - G2 is not striking the same kinds of responsive chords with economic issues as he did with the patriotic issues...
the patriotic issues resounded well with all of the public - but not this economic program - it is resounding with only some of the public...
To: Peach
Screw unemployment extensions. Cut taxes so jobs can be created.

It was pointed out that figures from the GEO said that most corp do not pay ANY taxes..now as long as they are here creating jobs so that all of us make an income to pay taxes I am fine with that..BUT that is no longer true..so those businesses that pay no taxes and are exporting jobs need to have a tax penalty of some sort..but it will never happen those are the ones that donate to the pols ..BTW we will personaly benefit by GWB's plan that is not the issue..my concern for younger Americans and the future of our nation

Which types of jobs are being exported overseas?
To: RnMomof7
Unless you are a corporation or wealthy they will not help much..do not get excited I am not a corporation nor rich. But I welcome any and all tax cuts that I can get. I am more than over taxed.
And last time I checked, it is the wealthy and corporations who employ people. Go find a job provided by a poor person. Let me know how your search goes.
Rush to re-play Cavuto and Ferraro exchange shortly .. I'm sure Sean will have it on later as well.
To: krodriguesdc
Let's give our fellow Americans credit for having SOME intelligence. I believe people will realize Socialism that the Dems offer takes away from those who work hard to redistribute to the lazy.
I think Americans will react favorably to an economic plan that will take less from people and give TRUE freedom to individuals.
To: Sungirl; RnMomof7
Who wants to work in Buffalo anyway?? As a former resident of Buffalo, I can tell you that if you have a job in Buffalo you are employed by one of the following 2... The government or a bar.
To: danneskjold
Which types of jobs are being exported overseas?
Those jobs in which our workers are wasting their time and talent doing.
If someone's work is worth 50k, it shouldn't be spent on an assembly line, they should be putting their 50k talent to work where it would be more efficient.

Listen. Corporations pay NO taxes. NONE. WE as consumers pay them in higher prices and as employees in reduced wages and benefits.
Learn it, live it, love it!

Congratulations...Correct answer...
:)
To: danneskjold
look don't get me wrong - I like G2 - but not everyone agrees with this economic package as evidenced by recent polls that say
Americans would rather not have a tax cut...
this economic package does not have mass appeal....
we here at FR do like tax cuts, but not everyone agrees with the notion that more and more tax cuts benefit the economy more...
To: DLfromthedesert
Put this in perspective...we would rather see the peoples' money in the hands of the people....not the democraps!

now all the rich people are creating jobs in China and Mexico..but don't worry you can always move I'll have to ask my boss, the owner of the company I work for, who is very wealthy when he will be moving my job to Mexico or China. I suspect his answer will be NEVER.
And we are a very small company. 9 employees, including my boss who is also the owner.
He is a very wealthy man by most peoples standard. House over a million dollars, 80K car, a 500,000 second home at the beach, etc...
He, a rich man and owner of an LLC hired me. Not the welfare broadmare down the street.
To: krodriguesdc
So do you disagree that Bush's plan will stimulate the economy, or are you just concerned that it won't be "well received"?
If you think that it will work, whether it is well received now or not doesn't matter. Once the economy picks up, the majority will be on-board.
If you don't agree with his plan, what do you suggest instead?
To: Peach
Unless something is done about the Alternative Minimum Tax, relief for married people and people with children will simply be slurped right back up again.

Baloney! Have you seen the poll numbers? Well over 60% (some numbers reach 80%) approve of the elimination of the marriage penalty, increasing the child care credit, accelerating the current tax cuts, etc.
This does have mass appeal. I heard the speech on the radio. W was great and made perfect sense. It will be well received by the American people.
