Hooray for Frist! Lott would have spent hours listening to their democrap.
To: MJY1288
How did he do that? I didn't see it.

Truly believe the RATs did not learn one thing from the last election. They just keep at it without the same old rhetoric!

That was my first thought also when I read this -- Lott would not only have stayed but would have tried to appease ms. clinton and her crowd.
Day One is history and I am very happy to see the new leadership of Senator Frist leading the way!

Of course, you are welcome to continue to post your angst... My "angst" is purely for this nation. The progress of freedom worldwide is unstoppable, so actually I have a fairly sunny outlook overall. But I fear that it will be the Costa Ricas, the New Zealands, and the Czech Republics of the world that show what real freedom is, while American "conservatives" argue about how quickly to spend more money and how much more intrusive the federal government needs to be.
I do confess to some confusion about those incremental victories you mentioned. My original comment started out wondering why Republicans were celebrating an increase in federal spending. Do you regard that as an incremental victory? How about Bush's education initiative? The Department of Homeland Security? Prescription drugs for seniors?
Oh, I get it. You're probably talking about those miniscule tax cuts - which still don't get back to the levels set by Ronald Reagan only twenty years ago, and which will no doubt be raised again the next time Congress realizes how much money it's spending on all the things in the paragraph above.
Or maybe it's the judicial nominees you're hoping for. Like David Souter, nominated by Bush the Elder, and who has turned out to be as liberal as anyone on the court.
But hey, let's celebrate. After all, Republicans are winning!

Schumer has already said they'd filibuster Pickering's nomination. Jerk

"I'm not going to leave them in charge,"
Uhm..., they're NOT in charge. REPUBLICANS have CONTROL of the House, Senate, & Presidency. Hope all the Pubbies are clear on this now. Glad Frist is ready to fight, but concerned he believed the Dems, that they would pass his proposal. Hope he's learned his lesson.
To: falfa
Hillary should have bill neutered, not that po' dog.
To: Theodore R.
Oh, if Jesse has spoken against her confirmation, THEN I'M ALL FOR IT!!
To: PhiKapMom
Me, too! I hope the pubbies don't blow it, and begin to show how hard they CAN fight back.
To: Joe Bonforte
Like I said, Joe, "give it up". You can try and rain on our parade, but try not to take offense if you ignore you...like I will be doing from now on.

You did hear about the January 1st incident with the auto wreck I assume?...
No, I was "wrecked" myself on Jan 1...what happened?

New York Daily News | 1/02/03 | AP MIAMI - Incoming Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.) stopped minutes after a fatal rollover accident on a Florida highway yesterday and helped tend to four survivors until paramedics arrived. Frist, a surgeon, was about 35 miles from Miami and heading to a family vacation home when a sport-utility vehicle going in the other direction rolled over, ejecting all six passengers. Two died, including a 10-year-old girl. It wasn't the first time Frist has helped in an emergency. In 1998, when a gunman opened fire in the U.S. Capitol, Frist rushed to aid the victims, treating a man who had... |

...but try not to take offense if you ignore you...like I will be doing from now on. No offense at all. Of course, the implication is that you can't answer the questions I raised about those "incremental victories", but then I didn't think you would be able to when I raised them. Every time such things come up, Republican loyalists stick their heads in the sand, and start talking about "victories" that look an awful lot like defeats to me.

I have to admit, I hated Schumer from the moment I first heard him speak his leftist drivel. It was hate at first sight.

To put some perspective on it, I heard a guest on C-SPAN say that 97% of the senate's business is passed by voice vote and only about 3% is debated.

It's amazing, isn't it, how different the left thinks from the right or centrists. Our mindsets are as far apart as the east is from the west. God save us from the socialist-communists in our government and in our midst. They will destroy us if they aren't stopped. They talk a lot and do very little else except try to corrupt everything they touch or condemn good righteous people who are trying to turn things around (Bush's judicial appointees, not withstanding). I hate the way the Clinton democrats attack everything Bush does without even thinking about what he's saying. They're on attack mode continually. Don't they have any common sense or decency? (I think I just answered my own question...) M
