I will second that. Drug advocates like LeRoy try to imply that drugs other than alchohol and tobacco are not harmful (evidence: note how he _only_ refers to alcohol and tobacco as "deadly and addictive").

By this "logic", anyone who repeatedly refers to Clowntoon and Shrillary as "crooks" is denying that any other person in all of human history was a crook.

I re-read my post and it comes across the opposite of what I meant to say. I agree with your post. Removing morality as an argument forces issue advocates to go to extremes to make their case.

As loathsome a practice as animal torture is, I don't see any sustainable basis for granting animals rights, nor for making illegal any act that violates no rights. (If I knew an animal torturer lived in my community, I'd be more than happy to spearhead a campaign of organized condemnation and ostracism.)
