If she didn't file for divorce when this came down (Ritter said she was in court with him so she had to know about it), she's not going to file for divorce now. Can you spell C-O-D-E-P-E-N-D-E-N-T? I knew you could. Didn't I read somewhere yesterday that there was some speculation that she may have been a former spy for the KGB or similar agency in the USSR? I'm not sure how these things work today, but I wonder if she is not playing a far greater role here and her position as wife is secondary. Who knows?

I don't think it was a set up. My guess is that Ritter has a "thing" for young girls, and indulged that fetish in Baghdad on many occasions. I'd guess that more than a few of the women were supplied by the Iraqi intelligence service, and those encounters were videotaped. When confronted with the evidence, Ritter became a willing dupe of the Iraqis. When he tried the same garbage here at home, he was arrested. However, this episode still begs a couple of questions: first, why are the files in this case sealed--that seems rather odd. And secondly, how many othr times has Ritter lured other young women into his trap?

Well, I'll state the obvious. Any credibility that Ritter had left is long gone. His fifteen minutes are up.

But I live in a town with a prison (sorry, make that "correctional institute"). You'd be astounded by how many women (gag) stand by their man, no matter how grotesque the crime--murder, rape, child molestation, incest, you name it.

Look, Mommy, look!!! There's that man that they arrested at Burger King when we were there for my birthday party.Come to think of it....
I wonder if Burger King will sue Ritter. I'll bet a lot of families have cancelled birthday parties they had planned to hold there for their kids.

While I am a New York lawyer, my practice does not involve criminal law. What you say, however, is consistent with what I remember from my bar review course over 20 years ago.
As I read that, however, there is nothing to prevent him from discussing the facts - other than embarrassment. The purpose of the seal is so that if he is good and meets the terms, he will not have a record.
And remember, the court of public opinion is not required, or expected, to adhere to the same standards of proof as the State when it seeks to take away one's liberty.

Apparently, the prosecutor (an assistant DA) did the deal without telling her boss. There were reports yesterday that the DA was so angry he was not told, he fired the prosecutor.

I was a credible voice. I am a credible voice. And I will be a credible voice in regards to issues pertaining to Iraq
Reminds me of Clinton, I am not irrelevent! Note, 4 times in two minutes he used the phase, I stood before the judge. Reminds me of Gores memorized and over utilized, No controlling legal authority.

"Not that Brown was po'ed at what Ritter could have done to that girl."
My thoughts exactly. I can't believe the contortions that the media will go thru to cover one of the ones they support.
But then again, it's only about sex in the Dems eyes, right?

I don't think it was a set up. My guess is that Ritter has a "thing" for young girls, and indulged that fetish in Baghdad on many occasions. Memory is weird - and I'm probably tainted by Ritter's current controversy and the loathing I have for him - but I vaguely remember that there was some sort of sex scandal among weapons inspectors in Iraq a few years ago. I can't remember the details. Anyone?

Your theory about Ritter having indulged in embarrassing sex in Baghdad and subsequently being blackmailed is a definite possibility. Movies of him and some young gift from Saddam would be extremely damaging if leaked to the media, so he's turned.
All this crap about the files being sealed is just lawyerspeak for "no comment", which is not at all the same as "I didn't do it", and the case being dismissed (I think the proper term is diversion) after a time is not the same as a finding of innocence. He did it, he got caught, he played the game to avoid jail and now he has the right not to talk about it. But no amount of silence will erase the issue from the spotlight for now, it's as if he has a big red letter "P" on his forehead when he squawks about Iraq and the evil warmongers.

One of the weapons inspectors this time around had something in his past--affiliation with some type of sex shop in DC, I think. Fortunately, I've forgotten the lurid details. I don't remember anything about the past inspectors.

[RITTER] I wish people would keep the eye on the ball here. It's about war and peace. It's about the potential of conflict with Iraq, many thousands of Americans dying. And whether you agreed with me or disagreed with me on the issue, there's no doubting -- and you can't rewrite history -- I was a very effective voice in the anti-war effort in the campaign to keep inspectors on the ground. This is how Hillary talks. Tell people how the situation SHOULD be viewed. Insist on a pre-established frame of any discussion. Any thing out of that is illegitimate.

theory about Ritter having indulged in embarrassing sex in Baghdad and subsequently being blackmailed is a definite possibility This is very realistic. Amn Al-Khass techniques mirror many KBG schools of thought. Ritter's compromise ability over young girls was proven with his "new," current wife. Sexual predators are incurable according to experts.
And the Time interview, the Baghdad children's prison reference, which Ritter dropped like a hot frying pan? Combined with Ritter's disgusting concern for the safety of US soldiers; while this child molester wannabe stalks their children at home, makes me puke.
Did anyone remember a time line of the children's prison visit and slimy Scott's flip/flop on Iraq? There could be a plausible relationship.

He was into both weapons and S&M. It wasn't an actual sex scandal because all the activity was consensual, and it had nothing to do with his job.
After sifting the evidence as it was prevented to me, I think he would have made a pretty good inspector. And a poor blackmail target, since he did nothing to hide his predelictions, which are perfectly legal.
