Candidates who don't enter primaries don't win conventions anymore. In fact, the age of the brokered convention may be gone anyway, as both party bosses frontload the primaries in an attempt to quash any candidacy that is not nice and mainstream. So unless Gore jumps back and enters primaries I can hardly see how he can expect to get the delegates necessary to win.

Looking over the current Democratic field of contenders one is struck by the fact that none seems likely to do as well as Gore might have done. I suspect that Gore suggested to Hillary that she be his VP candidate, and that she snubbed him. Also, a lot of people who were very disappointed with Gores 2000 performance let him know it. Still, with Gore gone who do they have who could do any better?

Somehow, I missed that. I find I am not reading for comprehension lately.

Nevertheless, he apparently has a job. Is there a person more ill suited for work as an executive somewhere in corporate America as old Al? My god, he'll be micromanaging the janitors changing lightbulbs in the restrooms and reminding everyone not to flush each time.

Met West is a left wing owned mutual fund company that specializes in bond funds.

It had a good track record and got squirrely in the fall of 2001. I was getting ready to sell our Met West funds when an alert came out that they had hired the Goron to be their pretty boy with zero skills.

They and he basically admitted that he really wasn't working, and their pay was just a way of funding his 2004 election run without calling it a campaign donation.

I sold our Met West Funds that day.

That's more likely than Gore, but the nomination will be decided before the convention. That's the way the press plays it these days.

They decide early on who they like, and start concentrating on those one or two men. The herd-culling will start extra early this time around (isn't Dean already out?)

Of the other obvious losers, only Sharpton will hang on until the end. You can't have that hairdo and pass up a chance to prance endlessly in front of television cameras. I hope he goes back to the gold chains and fat-boy jogging suits. Those were the days.

A man described as 'Salons returning national correspondant' chatted up Mr. Gore at the Grappa Italian Cafe in Park City, Utah last week, and practically foll[ow]ed him into the men's room.

This might explain Gore's support for gay rights....

It would leave half the Dems in the room feeling brokenhearted and betrayed.

When is the last time we had a brokered convention?

If I am not mistaken, it was brokered or very close to it in the 1976 RNC. Reagan and Ford went down to the wire. Reagan came amazingly close to unseating a sitting President, which is as Peggy Noonan put it, "a very un-Republican thing to do."

Nice move, Gramps. Amazing the numbers of ways these people come up with to deceive the electorate.

BTW, didya hear the latest? Seems Clinton admitted to earning $9 million last year - giving (ahem) speeches. You do the math. At $100 thou a speech (if every venue paid him that amount), he musta been awful busy what with travel and everything. You'd think we woulda heard about all these high-paid speeches, wouldn't ya?

Remember Liz, the Clintoon made that 9 million $'s for the chilrun, the downtrodden blacks, the abused Gays and to advance Abortions for every minority woman who is pregnant!

Amazing that he made that much. Any company that paid him $100K needs to be boycotted until everyone responsible is fired.
