The ancient Egyptians didn't really worship cats, they just knew from experience that the cats would get on top of everything they built anyway, so they just carved cats on top of everything, avoiding deep scratches to their furniture.
My own theory, based on looking around the room and being looked down on from heights by 4 of our 6 cats.

(How exactly did the cat get on top of the grandfather clock?)
I like your theory. I get looked down on by the feline as she reclines on top of the fridge.
Cats are so cool!

You have 6 cats? Wow! And I sometimes feel funny because I have 3 cats, and 2 dogs, and I want another dog...
Sometimes I'm afraid I'll end up as one of those old ladies with 40 cats and 20 dogs!

people would worship cats in Egypt. They thought that if you died then a women would come back as cat women! People in Egypt think that because they have cats there that stay alive for so long and worship cats.
