You know, most people do not even contemplate the effects of their purchases. We can't even get half of the voters in this country to vote!

I am a small businessman, and I watch the consumers flock to WalMart to buy their shotshells for $3.95 a box instead of paying $4.95 a box at their local gun shop, then crying when that local gun shop closes because the guy at the WalMart sporting goods counter cannot show them how to field strip their Remington.

These same types come to our motorcycle shops to try on helmets and then buy them on the internet at just about our cost, then want us to exchange them if they don't fit right. You can imagine where I'd like to fit that helmet!

This type of consumer greed has all but removed the "service" from retailing, and has destroyed the manufacturing strength of this country.

Another benefit of integrating globalization some might say.

Not me, though.

My father in law owns an independent garden center. He loves to hear "do they carry that at home depot?" after spending 15-20 minutes helping the lowlife ass. We also love to see people coming in and wondering why their fescue lawn turned brown after following some Home Despot teenager's instructions to use winterizer with simazine. As a funny aside one of his employees got a phone call asking for advice on how to kill a weed in his lawn. The employee could hear a forklift beeping and someone paging the manager of the Garden Center (he used to work for my Father in Law). That guy will be planting a new lawn!

It warms my heart to see these morons ripping some small business man off for his time and then going off and saving 10% on the price. They deserve to get their @$$ ripped. Some items are way more than 10% but they are loss leaders. He can't even carry a decent clay pot selection. The local distrutors stopped selling clay pots because Home Despot was underselling the them. My father in law has to buy whole truckloads and have them shipped. If he runs out of one variety oh well. Home despot carrys one type of basic clay pot. Everybody better be happy with it!
