Mullah Krekar answering your questions
www.nettavisen.no ^ | 02/12(03 | Myself

Posted on 02/12/2003 4:13:45 AM PST by Eurotwit

I am not sure if anyone is interested, but Mullah Krekar the founder and (former)spiritual leader of Ansar Al Islam, the Kurdish group supposedly linking Iraq and al Qaeda is answering questions live at the nettavisen website....

So far the most notable thing he has said is that George Bush reminds him of a drunk bus driver of a doubledecker bus driving over across a rotten bridge..

If your interested I could post it if he comes up with anything interesting...

Cheers.

No ... he's mistaken. It is the human shields that are driving the double decker bus.

hehe :-) It's Norway's largest web-only newspaper which is hosting the chat...

Anyways, here's the Mullah's interpretation of the latest Osama tape:

Translation:

I think it is basically a phsycological war between Al Qaeda and the US. I believe the recording is legit, but he is trying to motivate the Iraqis and telling them not to be afraid of the USA. He's telling them that he and his people had a hard time at Tora Bora, and that they are experienced in dealing with the Americans. It's Bin Ladens's point of view that the Americans cannot stand a long war. Iraq must therefore try to achieve a long war inside the cities, because the tall buildings will shield them from american rockets.

Alright, here goes... It was more lengthy than I thought...

Knut, Bærum:
- I think it amusing that Norway get to take a small part in the Iraqi conflict by getting to know you,Mr Krekar! You seem like a sensible man who doesn't wish for anything else than peace in Iraq. That you chooses to use arms in order to get peace tells us more about the Iraqi problem than it tells us about you. Personally, I think there will never be peace in the middle east until everyone is dead. But, I wish you and your family good luck anyways with the motto: Inside we are all the same.

Knut

Answer:
- I think that it is neccesary that Norway plays a positive role in the Iraqi conflict in the sammer manner as in Sri Lanka, South Sudan and the middle east. I thank you for you support, and I wish that the Norwegian society gets to keep its peace and stability. I wanna do all I can to be a positive element in this country.

David, Fjerne Oesten:
- Mr Mullah Krekar. As far as I have gathered, you are a muslim. Could you please explain and clear up the two following questions for me:

1. Those who are non-believers should be tied to the ground and their heads chopped off
2. You can somtimes lie if this is beneficial for islam

My questions are, is this according to the Koran?

Answer:
- It is not in the Koran that all non-believers should be killed. As a proof, muslims, jews and christians have lived together all through history. Secondly, you can only lie in order to save another persons life if he is threatened unjustly. Islam doesn't need lies in order to be victorious as a world religion.

Jens, Oslo:
- Are you against marriages between christians and muslims? Why?
Answer:
- No, according to the sharia that is allowed.

Stein-Ivar Lothe Eide, Arna:
- Would you characterise yourself as an Islamic fundamentalist? If so, what does that mean to you?

Answer: - In the USA in 1928 there was a catholic movement that tried to get people to return to the bible and not follow anything that had come to the fore during the french revolution. They were called fundamentalists, as a negative word. The very same word is used to stereotype us muslims in a negative way. Thus my answer is: No, I am not a fundamentalist, but I want muslims to follow the Koean and view the world with open eyes.

Ivar, Oslo: (This was my question;-) )
- Hello,
There are many people wondering who Abu Wael really is and there exists contradictory reports. Since you supposedly are a friend of his, perhaps you could clear up the matter once and for all: Who is Abu Wael?

Answer:
- Abu Wael is an arab from Bagdad. He is 70 years old, and was educated as a lawyer 30 years ago. He is a good muslim. Those who say is is an Iraqi agent is only spreading propaganda. I think that if a single shred of evidence existed, the americans would present it.
Many of his friends are in Saddams jails, and his wife was arrested by Saddam Hussein.

Øyvind, :
- Do you think the Internet is a good medium? There is so much filth. Should there be an age limit on the internet? Does your group have an internet connection?

Answer:

- The Internet is a very good medium, even though there are also things that are not good with the net. Age limit? I can only talk of my own experience with my children, and if you raise them well, you don't need an age limit. My children use the net on a daily basis, and would not access web-sites that are not good. Ansar Al-Islam has got PC, and know how to use the net, but doesn't have a web site.

Stein-Ivar Lothe Eide, Arna:
- Do you think it is correct when a political leader states on TV and acts like judge and jury like Carl I Hagen (my comment: Pro US politician) did, when he said that you should be expelled.

Answer:
- I don't know if what Hagen said on TV is against Norwegian laws, but I would dearly love for Hagen to prove why I am a danger to the country. I can prove that I am not.

Morten Anfinnsen, Oslo:
- I wonder what position an influence you had in the Ansar-al-Islam and why you chose to take your family to Norway?
Svar:
- I left Iraw in 1982 due to the political situation in Iraq. The last 20 years I have always stayed in touch with my people in North Iraq and played my part in the actions that have taken place there. I came to Norway in 1991, and Ansar Al-Islam was founded in desember 2001. In other words I came here with my family before the group was founded

Daiemann, Liafjellet:
- What is your view of how the Norwegian politicians have handled the situation that arose regarding you? Do you like apples?

Answer:
- The politicians were first doubtful, because of all the propaganda. But, after I was arrested in the Netherlands, and after I met the americans in the jail, and after I was released and came back to Norway and been ten times at police questioning and has given many interviews with the media - I think the situation has become more clear for the politicians. I am an optimist and I think the case now is proceeding exellently.

jacob, harstad:
- You have yourself been involved in attempts to making peace between the ansar al islam and the puk. Do you renouce Ansar's new approach introduced by the killing of a kurdish minister and the murders of two additional persons in Suleimaniah this Saturday?
Answer:
- If you are talking about the assination last saturday, it wasn't a minister that was killed. Av was a military leader and had with him 4 other militants. The two others were from the intelligence service. One time I tried to make peace with the one that was killed. I still want that the group and PUK should have peace talks.

Lars, Oslo:
- Have you yourself participated in warfare in Northern Iraq? And killed people?
Answer:
- I have twice battled against Saddam Hussein. THe first time in 1974, and secondly in april 1991. The only person I know that I have killed was the pilot in an airplane I shot down in 1974, and was from Cuba and represented the enemy.

Hilde, Bærum:
- What is your view of women? Should they wear the veil and stay at home - or should they be out working?

Answer:
- I think that women should be able to work outside of the home, but they should wear a veil.

76, Oslo:
- Do you believe in Jihad, and do you think it will happen?

Answer:
- Jihad, will happen if the Americans (George Bush) continues their current policies.

.........

Hey Cindy...It was quite lengthy, and it is getting a bit late here in Norway......But if your'r still interested I'll translate the remainder over the next few days?

Cheers and goodnight.

Hi, here's the remainder of the net-session:

Dag Erik, Bergen:
- Do you think it is right that refugees that come to Norway for protection should be able to og home for vacation to their homeland? If yes, doesn’t this prove that they don’t have any need for protection in Norway?
Answer:
- If we are talking about kurdish refugees, I believe that they should be able to og back to their homelands for shorter vacations, because northern Iraq is not under Saddam Husseins control and are therefore safe there. The whole of Northern Iraq is threatened by Saddam Hussein, and the future there is uncertain, therefore people still need protection, but a short visit to a relative doesn’t mean that they can be safe there all the time.

Helberg, Rødal:
- What do you think should be done about Saddam Hussein?
Answer:
- It is neccesary to remove Saddam Hussein. That must be doine by helping the Iraqis to do it – not by a country from outside doing it. For example, the rebels in Iraq that want to overthrow Hussein could be supported.

libben, bergen:
- What will your reaction be if you are not allowed to stay in Norway?
Answer:
- If Norwegian law says that I have to leave the country, then I will do so happily and grateful to the Norwegian people for what I have been given during 11 years in your country. Most people have been polite to me and to my family, and has treated me fairly.

Audun, Lillestrøm:
- What plans do you have for the future, and what is your source of income in Norway today?
Answer:
- I am now awaiting the decision of the authorities. I will first learn Norwegian, and write a book about my history. Then I wish to become a teacher for grown-ups who want to learn arabic. I have no job at the moment, and have not been on welfare the last 6-7 years. But, my wife works, so she covers our expenses.

Stein, Askøy:
- Hi! How come you don’t speak Norwegian after living here for 12 years?

Aswer:
- I must first say that it is a negative part of me that I don’t know Norwegian (MY COMMENT: BTW. Most of the weird syntax is present in the original Norwegian text) Four-six years ago I was better at the language than now, but lately I have not had much contact with Norwegians. I don’t use Norwegian because I am afraid that I cannot find the correct words and expressions so that Norwegians will be able to understand me. I am also afraid of being misunderstood by the media, that’s why I use an interpreter. I can promise people that during the next year, I want to learn Norwegian, if I am allowed to stay in this country.

Torbjørn, Asker:
- Hi, first of all I wanna express my unconditional support for you and your familiy. You appear to be a likable and just man. It was said that you should be sent back to Iraq in the interests of national security and so on….if they were really “afraid” Krekar…perhaps you should be allowed to stay.. J Keep it up.

Answerr:
- I thank you!

tekkno, Oslo:
- What would you do if you were given nuclear weapons?
1. Given them to Afghanistan
2. Given them to Iraq
3. Given them to the USA
4. Used them yourself
5. Destroyed them
Which alternative would you choose?
Answer:
- I would choose number 5: If I had the opportunity I would take all the nuclear weapons in the world and destroy them all. We must remember Nagasaki and Hiroshima!

Anders, Oslo:
- What do you think of Osama bin Ladens speech that was just broadcast on Al-Jazeera?

Answer:
- I think it is basically a phsycological war between Al Qaeda and the US.

Harald, Høvik:
- How do you think that PST (Norwegian Security Police) has treated you and your family?
Answer:
- In the beginning it was just ordinary questions. But in the last interrogation, last thursday, I was asked questions related to military matters. These questions were asked in a manner like one who was preparing for a military strike against the group would do..

Knut, Alta:
- While Krekar in Norwegian media haven’t directly answered wheter he still leads Ansar al islam, in the Kurdish paper Hawlati on the 27 of January he confirmed that he still was leading the group.

Is this correct?
Answer:
- I have told Norwegian and the foreign media that I am no longer in charge of Ansar al Islam. I repeat that now. I have noe public position in the group any longer, but I am worried about the group because it is a kurdish-islamic group that is threatened by a possible war

Kristoffer, Elnesvågen:
- What’s your favourite food?
Answer:
- Everything my wife makes!

Gu5\, kalbakken:
- How does the muslims in Norway react to your case?
Answer:
- They support me. I am often stopped at the street by muslims who support me. Many are also calling me and expressing their support.

Kristoffer, Elnesvågen:
- What do you think about Norway? Is it a good country to live in?
Answer:
- Yes, very good.

Kristoffer, Elnesvågen:
- How would you descrive George Bush in a few words?
Answer:
- George Bush is a drunk bus driver driving a doubledecker bus across a rotten bridge. That means he is going to destroy the entire world.

Kjell Rognlien, Greåker:
- What do you think about the foreign policy of the USA?, and does your group have any links to Al Qaeda and Iraq?
Answer:
- I think the US foreign policy is unfair towards muslims around the world. The Americans try to occupy military dictarorships in muslim countries and protect such regimes in these countries. No, we have no connections either with Iraq or Al Qaeda.

.........

Well that was is.... Krekar was last seen today in the peace demonstration in Oslo...

Have a good one,

Cheers.
