Danny Glover, outspoken Anti-American, is now a spokesman for MCI. If you're a customer, you're helping enrich him. I've been satisfied with my MCI service for 10 years and would have remained a customer until I saw Danny Glover's "jelly bean" ads.
These Hollywood halfwits cannot have it both ways. They cannot expect American paying consumers to simply ignore their extremist anti-American political views. And corporations like MCI should do a better job of researching their spokespeople.

MCI is World Com........a more corrupt company you will not find. When you cancel their service, they continue to charge you even tho you aren't their customer any more. They are notorious for this.

Step One: Call 1-800-Call ATT to change your service (or Sprint, or Verizon, etc)
Step Two: Call MCI toll free at 1-877-777-6271 and tell them you are cancelling your MCI service because they give money to the hateful anti-American traitor Danny ("Ah spits on you while I takes yo' money") Glover.

I use ZoneLD.com for long distance. Billed to credit card online. You never receive anything but email bills. Works very well absolutely no problems 4.5 cents interstate slightly higher in state . No monthly fees (bills).Tell them I sent you so I get $5.00 credit on Amazon.

There's a company that I've used for a couple of years that's also in the US now called
YAK Communications (USA) that uses a cartoon Yak for their ads. They've got really good rates and I doubt they'll ever go Hollywood with their endorsers. I don't even know if they are big enough in the US to afford a national ad campaign. I've never seen them on any of the US channels I watch. Their line quality is the same as the big boys, in my experience. And you get charged on your local phone bill so you no longer have to pay for local and LD separately.

Try telling one of those telemarketers when they call. It's so much fun to tell them why you would do without long distance before doing business with a company that has Glover as a spokesperson.

Thanks for the phone numbers. I was planning to bail MCI this month anyway, as they are not going to award Delta Airline points any more. I'll tell them it's because of Glover, whose commercials I've never seen. LOL

It's what the wife and I use; no money to pro-abort candidates (a la AT&T, MCI, etc.), and they don't sponsor 900 numbers or porn channels on cable.
The rates are great, and you get to set aside a percentage to the charity of your choice.

Look at onesuite.com , also pre-paid online. 2.9/min in state or out. No hidden fees or hidden taxes. Great international rates also. One year of their service saved me thousands.

Cancel ALL your long distance service. You do not need to have long distance on your phone, in spite of what they will tell you. Make sure you cancel the service, not just let it ride and use the calling cards. If the service is still available, they charge you all the access fees, taxes and upgrade charges.
I have used calling cards for the last year and half. My current card charges 1.8 cents/min.

I have cancelled my long distance and only prepay. I have zero connection fees, zero hidden costs and am billed in 1 min increments. The international rates are key for me. Many of the cards have connection fees all kinds of hidden charges. What are you using?

This is a good selector of calling cards.
http://www.ttsprepaid.com/
The one I use I get from a local quick stop.
You have to be careful what you buy, tho. Some have a maintenance fee (charge for each week the card is active), and some charge for unconnected calls. All I have found charge a few mins for calls place in pay phones.
Eveybody has different requirement, and I'd not presume to recommend any product.
BTW, most grocery stores, wal marts, and 7-11's have calling cards.

My name is Ashley. I WORK FOR MCI. I heard from somebody at work that this site was here, and i'm not here to knock anybody-you are all entitled to your own beliefs, however, so is Danny Glover....do you realize that every day, people like myself listen to people like you, who are angry about this, take out all of your aggression about what Mr. Glover's thoughts are. Just like any other citizen, he is entitled to his own opinion, however, his beliefs do not reflect the beliefs of mci and what mci stands for. So please, next time you decide to take it out on mci, do it by keeping it underground like this...please don't call customer service and yell at us-we're not the ones who made the comment. Thank you :]

Hi Ashley. That's fine that Mr Glover has an anti-amerikan opinion, and he is an actor and worthy of his lofty ideals, and happens endorces your product.
I'm and engineer with an MBA, just a tad more educated than your average actor. MCI can boycott my product. We are an automobile parts manufacture for every major car manufacture in the world. Now, being a liberal, of course you believe dear old Danny. But. mind you, you will ignore the thousands of highly educated conservatives who think you are wrong. You must be in customer service.

Well, at least we're making enough noise to annoy the customer service reps. Like Ashley says, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but when a company tries to tie its commercial success to someone with controversial opinions they and their employees have to be willing to accept the consequences.
I changed my service this past week and I feel much better now.
