",,, leasing is something that occurs after market. Whether it's leased or owned, that aspect is irrelevant after the car hits US soil and has generated an export receipt isn't it? - even if the lessor is the manufacturer's finance company.

Also, another consideration for a firm like VW who are churning out Beetles for my market from Mexico, is that Mexico's labour force will suffer before Germany's does."

VW makes cars in Mexico. The SUVs by Mercedes and BMW are assembled in the US of A.

Nevertheless, the companies are German. I think you are trying to put too fine of a point on this.

The idea would be to NOT BUY (lease, consume, support, acquire) German products.

As I previously stated, it would be a SACRIFICE for me, to give up German cars, for I have come to expect to drive the world's finest vehicles.

I just came back from a snack run. While there another guy with the same German vehicle as mine, said he was likely to NOT get another German vehicle.

That is two of us. Trust me, the managements of the companies are WORRIED!!

The German government in power would NOT have been elected, if not for votes from the east. The 20 million easterners are brainwashed communists/socialists, they are responsible for record high unemployment (they don't really want to work).

The old West Germany would have elected the Christian Democrats, who would likely have supported Bush and Blair, and left the french-pre-emptive-surrender experts, on their own solo path.

That is no substitute. Chrysler is now DAIMLER-Chrysler, a German company. I will unfortunately, not be buying any more Jeeps (sigh).

Wir benötigen nicht deutsche Automobile. Sie kaufen nicht deutsche Produkte! BOYCOTT!

gawd I luv the Kraut language.

It's the only language I know where everyone sounds piss'd off ALL the time.

I have no idea what your message means but I can see Hitler screaming it aloud to the millions of mindless.

It will sadden me, to depart the ranks of German car drivers/owners.

I once owned a British car. I hope the reliability has improved, from the time of my one British car.

Most likely, owning a British vehicle would be a fine experience. But I cannot completely forget my experience with Lucas electronics, etc.

Less risky for me, would be Swedish. Volvo I trust.

Japanese would also be worthy of trust, although often bland, unoriginal, copy-cat-ish.

And I am (almost) ready to wade into American showrooms. I guess a Lincoln LS would come about as close as any, to a German sport sedan.

The longer I consider the proposition, I arrive at owning a SAAB, for engineering, quality, fun, relative exclusivity (and an American owned company).

,,, I've had two Volvo 200 series sedans. They're safe and comfortable but nothing near reliable. Peugeots are high maintenance items too. I own a small company that operates Nissan S-Cargo vans, a Fiat Uno van and a 2000 Previa. The cambelt on the Fiat's being done as I write, the Nissans hog the gas but the Previa (a model you don't get in the US) is the shining star. Brilliant vehicle.

It means: "We don´t need german cars. They don´t buy german products" - which should maybe have been "WE don´t buy german products" i think rather than "they"...

I wished that when you hear "German" you thought of more than the speches of an evil man in front of thousands of cheering people. Because definetely the language is more than that.

BTW did you know that about 25% of English and German vocabulary is similar or even equal? So this kraut language that sounds in your ear like being pissed off all the time while speaking is more a "close relative" to your own language than most other languages around...

Here some other lines in German, this time maybe less suitable for imagining Hitler to shout this...

Füllest wieder Busch und Tal
Still mit Nebelglanz,
Lösest endlich auch einmal
Meine Seele ganz

Breitest über mein Gefild
Lindernd deinen Blick,
Wie des Freundes Auge mild
Über mein Geschick.

( "An den Mond", Johann W. Goethe)

translation:

bush and vale thou fill'st again
With thy misty ray,
And my spirit's heavy chain
Castest far away.

Thou dost o'er my fields extend
Thy sweet soothing eye,
Watching like a gentle friend,
O'er my destiny.
