Its known as cruising looking for anonymous sex in public restrooms and police say its increasing on the University of Minnesota campus. Last week, a 28-year-old U of M student was arrested for having public sex in a bathroom at Willey Hall.
"Last week during the day, we had a call come into our dispatch complaining of sexual activity in public in the mens room on the West Bank," said U of M police officer Steve Johnson.
Police say it happened in a bathroom at Willey hall. When they arrived, the alleged suspects were gone. "A short time after the uniformed officers left, a plain clothes officer was in the area and went into the same restroom and encountered public sexual activity and arrested a person for indecent conduct," said Sgt. Johnson.
Officers say the public sexual activity in men's restrooms has increased on the West Bank. There's a cruising website which even identifies Willey, Blegen and Anderson hall restrooms as good spots for anonymous sex.
"It's kind of bothersome for University students as well, said Queer Student Cultural Center member Antonio Cardona. I mean when we feel uncomfortable going to the bathrooms cause we know this is going on, its just as [big] a problem for gay students as it is for straight students.
Members of the Queer Student Cultural Center worry about the safety of having anonymous sex anywhere. "You can't really ever be too sure with circumstances and whats going to happen afterwards, or even during," said Cardona.
The group and police agree that even though the recent arrest was a U student, most men who cruise college bathrooms are not. They're generally men who consider themselves straight.
"There's a lot of stigmatization still about being gay, and people are very uncomfortable about that, said Cardona. Their only outlet is anonymous sex."
While U of M police are not doing anything specific to prevent public sexual activity from going on at the University, they are responding to every call they receive.

It's amazing how men can rationalize things.

Nothing like the poor misunderstood loooooong suffering 'mo's who just can't establish a "real" relationship. When do we stop enabling these pervs by rationalizing their criminal behavior?
And the campus police...what Officer Barberrys:"go back to your homes...there's nothing to see here."

Run the BS detector by that line and tell me what a 28 year old student is doing on campus and not working for a living. Well, I could point out that he might be a Clinton "Don't ask, Don't tell" 4 or 6 year vet and only now is attending college.
Or,
I could say that he might be one of those "professional college students".
Or,
Then again, you might be right and the line if full of BS.
The point is, his actions were wrong, no matter what his age.

said Cardona. Their only outlet is anonymous sex." Hey Cardona why don't you go have your anonymous perverted sex in the anonymity of your own little apartment or whatever hovel you occupy. The taxpayers, the majority of whom are non-homosexual, of the State of Michigan pay a hefty amount of money to keep the people's university of Michigan operating. Mainstreaming the bathrooms, only the homos would think to do that.

Oops, I saw U of M and immediately assumed the people's university of Michigan. They have affirmative action policies, an active homosexual community, a leftist president, all the ingredients. My trifocals, sinus headache, and the early hour are my only excuses. Can I get affirmative action for that?

I thought we learned during the Clinton Administration that "Oral Sex is not Sex!" and Now we have the Brits teaching and encouraging "Oral Sex in their Schools" since it isn't really sex.
So what exactly are they arresting these Queer Guys for doing? Impersonating the Former President?
Hopefully, Nothing in this message violates the "Political Correctness Standards of FreeRepublic" since I would hate to cause another thread to get pulled!

Is anyone surprised this took place in "Willey" hall? As in Clinton and ...well...you know...
Once again a story that shows homosexuality is not about freedom or relationship, it's simply about perverted sex.
To: Hawkeye's Girl
It is very interesting that the article is written in a manner that downplays the *homosexual* nature of the sexual activity. Even if the media dislikes reporting errant sexual behavior, the homosexual lobby still wins when the behavior is normalized by being referred to simply as "sex in the men's room".

I guess that these poor, misunderstood people just can't win. /sarcasm
