Lawmaker Derides Congressional Funding of Grammys

WASHINGTON One federal lawmaker is singing the blues about an $800,000 appropriation for The Grammy Foundation included in the omnibus spending bill recently passed by Congress and signed into law by President Bush.

The Santa Monica, Calif.-based foundation is a nonprofit arm of the Recording Academy, which sponsors the annual Grammy Awards that this year featured the likes of Bruce Springstein, Eminem and No Doubt.

okay, this is now officially just f-ing insane. At the age of 34, I now already understand the reasoning behind the so-called "curmudgeon vote," in which elderly cranks routinely vote down necessary and piddling school bond elections during odd-numbered election years: Because of THIS crap.

Can you imagine what it would be like in this country if for just ONE year, it was decided that the United States would fund only what's spelled out in the Constitution? The freeloader class would rend this country apart in unending, civilation-destroying riots, in a matter of weeks.
