No problem. We never expected any help from them.

Speak for yourself. I didn't want them on our soil then or now.
I think Americans are quite capable of defending themselves if we are allowed to do so. Black Jack Pershing had the right idea about handling terrorists.

Fickle, aren't we? Thank God there is still a modicum of sanity out there.

We should slap enormous tariffs on these jerks and man I would have love to have withdrawn support for West Germany during the Cold War... oh how short their memories are... heck why should we stop with tariffs or withdrawing our troops...
We should just remind them that our troops there as an occupying force after their last screwup under Hitler... what unbelievable human trash the Germans and French who support Iraq are.

If they said that I want an immediate and unilateral withdrawl from GermanyAMEN!!!
Withdraw all our troops from Germany, if we have some in France, pull them out too!
Place an immediate halt to all import/exports for Germany, France, Russia, and yes...CHINA!!!
Use tactical nukes to neutralize the threat from N. Korea, and Iraq...sooner, rather than later!!!

Kinda funny how everyone on this thread is bashing Germany, yet, when they took to the US skies (flying AWACS) to protect us after 911, they were considered a strong ally. Fickle, aren't we?
You might want to revise that comment to read: "...they were still considered a strong ally."
That perception has obviously changed - by Germany's recent actions. No, we're not fickle. It's just that our eyes have been opened to Germany's true nature.

And that goes for removing NAZI GERMANY TROOPS FROM U.S. SOIL, asap,

Im currently serving here in Germany, and German soldiers are now acting as the sole guard force for most American posts. Where we were only able to post 2 or 3 soldiers at a guard point, the Germans post 10. They have proved to be very professional.
However, in my earlier days in the Army in the early 90's I trained with some German airborne troops and found them, to say the least, lacking in true soldier skills: they were physically unfit, mortally afraid to conduct a night time airborne op (standard stuff for US troops), and generally sloppy in dress and drill.

Those krauts sure have a short memory. I am not talking about Nazi Germany. I am talking about Americans in West Germany when the Soviets were planning to launch a NBC blitzkrieg through West Germany.
Such ingratitude for what? A few billions dollars of debt owed to them by Saddam. What a loser nation.

Germany is a sovereign nation; it is their right to say what is, and what is not, their fight, being our ally, and what they can, or cannot, contribute, if at all.
They have done a lot for us, fighting terrorism, and they are good allies.
That said, the problem is the socialists, and there as many such left-wing socialists in the United States --- which socialists oppose our moving against Saddam Hussein --- as there are such socialists in Germany and in France combined.
If the terrorists attacked Berlin this evening, and they killed 5,000 Germans, we are assured that "Americans" --- such socialists, here --- will oppose going to the Germans' aid.
I'm voting that we help the Germans; same for the French; same for the Russians; because there are as many of them who would fight for freedom, as there are, of us, so willing.
But I admit that I have no interest in helping the Red Chinese, because it is they, who are our mortal enemies; it is Red China who has been whispering in the ears of the "third world" order, giving that, fascist order, cause to have a confidence serving Beijing.

Once again, I urge President Bush to withdraw all us troops from both Germany and France and let them defend each other.
They are truely trying to hide something in Iraq.

Germany: "We are your friend."
Germany: "We are not your friend."
Germany: "I hope you get what you deserve, and don't come crawling to us when your soldiers are ambushed with the WMD that we know Iraq doesn't have."
Germany: "Pttthhhhhhhhtttt!"

Do the residents of West Berlin forget the Berlin Airlift so that they would not all starve?
Boycotting is a great idea, but I need some brand names other than the obvious ones, like automobiles, wines, and pharmaceuticals.

There are good and bad allies, just as there are good and bad folks, here in the USA and there.
Bottom line is, the selected path of the German government is not to most of our liking. But this article is hardly surprising, it DIRECTLY follows from that position. How could they deny supporting our attack, if they effectively agreed to be our "paramedics" for anyone within 5, 10, 20 or more miles inside Iraq (and therefore obviously an aggressor).
C'mon folks, let's not become totally irrational.

Pull every damn dollar out of Germany. Put our troops and bases in Spain. What a crock. I was told you could count your friends on one hand. Aint that the truth. None start with an F and none start with a G.

The adjective I have for both France and Germany, interestingly enough, starts with an "F" and ends with a "G".
