White House Blasts Moran, Democrats' Silence

WASHINGTON (GOPUSA News) -- For the second day in a row, the White House had harsh criticism for a Democrat Congressman's offensive remarks. On Tuesday, Spokesman Ari Fleischer condemned Rep. Jim Moran, Jr. (D-VA) who told a community group that the push for war with Iraq was strongly influenced by American Jews.

"If it were not for the strong support of the Jewish community for this war with Iraq we would not be doing this," Moran said. "The leaders of the Jewish community are influential enough that they could change the direction of where this is going and I think they should."

Fleischer said, "Those remarks are shocking. Those remarks are wrong. Those remarks are inappropriate. And those are remarks that should not have been said."

If the majority of his constituents are also anti-Semites then he is representing them as they elected him to do

Even if this is true the man faces a battle during his next campaign. Case in point - Cynthia McKinney and her dad Billy. Both lost election primaries last year. They had a nationwide Jewish movement to oust her. She is still crying today about the Jewish conspiracy against her and her father. It was wonderful to witness

Not to mention that it is a patent lie. The vast majority of Jews are anti-war.

Watch it, you may be asked to resign your posting privileges. This is a false statement. Polls show that the Jewish community feels the same way as all Americans, more for the war than against.

This is gonna cause big problems for the Dems, but not in the way most folks think....several months ago I opined here, when Sharpton announced his candidcay, that the issue of black anti-Semitism would prove to be a real pain for the Dems.....they've managed to tiptoe around it, just look at the primary defeats of McKinney and Hillard....but it's gonna get worse....Moran will get lots of pressure, but he's probably OK in his district, and you're gonna start to see the Black Caucus support him...it's tailor made for them, because it makes it look like it's NOT a racial issue....this will further fragment the Jewish vote, and the financial support, from the Dems.....there are several districts, and states, where a few % points can make the difference, and if the Jewish vote migrates to the GOP, well..

I have no use for Moran whatsoever but what was offensive about what he said?

He thinks it's the Jew's fault we're going to war.

but he's probably OK in his district

unfortunately, this is true. he is one district over from me. i cannot imagine how he continues to be elected despite all of his scandals; wifebeating, smacking some 8 yo kid, taking some borderline illegal loan, but then Falls Church and the environs is exceptionally liberal.

The Democrats aren't as afraid of their Jewish constituents as they are of their African-American constituents. That's the deal.

What was said was called a White House "blast"? A rather bombastic word for such measured rhetoric.

Think back to Lott and then reguage, please. A blast would have required courage.

Interesting comparison - Traficant was certainly not considered a friend of Israel either. You may remember his virulent defense of the Cleveland autoworker John Demjanjuk, who was accused of being the Nazi death camp guard Ivan the Terrible by Israel.

That being said, the double standard between the two is still obvious, as to your point about voting for Hastert.

And here's how they do it: NOBODY VOTES in Moran's district, particularly not in the very armpit known as Arlington:

ARLINGTON, Va. - Democrat Walter Tejada became the first Hispanic elected to the Arlington County Board when he defeated three-time Republican candidate Mike Clancy 55 percent to 45 percent in a special election.

He will fill the term of the late County Board Chairman Charles Monroe, who died of an aneurysm just a few weeks after taking over as chairman in January.

Almost 22,000 of Arlington's 118,000 registered voters went to the polls Tuesday.

Tejada, 45, is a business consultant who lives in the Dominion Hills community.

He tells WTOP his priorities will be fiscal responsibility, a balanced budget and more flexibility from Richmond.

After the results are certified by county elections officials, Tejada will be sworn in and will officially attend his first County Board meeting on Saturday.

Right. These are the kinds of things the Nazis have said for years. If Republican say these things about Gays or Blacks or Jews or name your politically protected class...no matter how true we are crucified for it. The double standard is what gets me.

For the last 2000 and something years, the Jews have been blamed for everything that goes wrong in the world. The Great Depression: Caused by Jewish bankers; Problems in the Middle East: Caused by greedy land grabbing Jews; Poverty in third-world countries: Caused by the Jews who contol the World Bank; Slavery: Caused by Jewish merchants; Holocust: Fabricated by Jews to gain sympathy and a home land; Hurricanes and earthquakes: Blame the Jews. I can't think of anything more Anti-Semetic than to blame the Jews for pushing the US of A to war against a mass murderer.

Actually, that's not true-- I've read stuff that indicates that Jewish sentiment on the war lines up pretty closely with the sentiments of the population as a whole.

"Polls show that the Jewish community feels the same way as all Americans, more for the war than against."

Wow! Not in my experience, but my experience may not be representative.

If you have a source poll, I would be curious to see it. And, I hope that you are right. My co-religionists need to wake up and smell the anti-Americanism.

"I wonder what business the Jewish and pro-Israel lobbies are into? Aren't they paid to steer U.S. foreign and domestic policy in a way that's advantageous to the 'Jewish community' or the state of Israel?"

A: Primarily the support of leftism. When that coincides with Israel's right to exist they also support Israel. But blanket support of Israel is secondary. If they had to sell out Zion in order to implement socialism, I'm pretty sure they'd go for socialism.

Of course I may be biased. While my BUSH bumper-stickered car was parked in the secure lot at the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle, nails were punched in my car tires five days in a row.

I have been enlightened by a fellow poster. My experience in the Jewish Community of Seattle was that Jews were vastly against war of any sort. A poll has proved me wrong. See below:

Most U.S. Jews support war against Iraq, poll shows
NEW YORK (JTA) -- A majority of American Jews -- 59 percent -- approve of launching a military strike against Iraq to remove Saddam Hussein from power and support President Bush's handling of the war on terrorism.

Those were among the results of the American Jewish Committee's Annual Survey of American Jewish Opinion. The AJCommittee poll of 1,008 Jews nationwide was conducted by phone between Dec. 16 and Jan. 5 and carried a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percent.

Despite support for Bush's war on terror, 48 percent of Jews said they're Democrats, 18 percent Republicans and 32 percent independent. Asked about their political views, 37 percent ranged from extremely to slightly liberal; 34 percent were moderate; and 29 percent ranged from extremely to slightly conservative.
