Last Fall, Daschle Decried “Accusations” Over “National Security.” “We ought not politicize this war. We ought not politicize the rhetoric about war and life and death. … We have to rise to a higher level. … [I]t is not too late to forget the pollsters . . . the campaign fundraisers . . . Dascle has an odd reelection strategy if he is running with Bush at the top of ballot. I don't really see how Bush supporters could also support Daschle in SD, when Daschle has tried to screw Bush at every turn. I trust that Bush will point that out, and that he will be campaigning more in SD than its electoral votes and "in play" status, or lack thereof, will otherwise dictate. It should be interesting.
