I as another Canadian also offer my appologies to our southern neighbours, and other allies who have leaders with more dignity and courage than the doddering semi-dictator we call a primeminister.

(anyone tell me how a Canuk can join the US millitary?)

Re: Proposed trade

You can have Vermont and Massachusetts. We'll take British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan.

Ottawa has rejected any Canadian participation in a U.S.-led assault on Iraq.

What probably hurts them the most is that no one cares. Western Canadians, it's time to put paid to the farce that Canada is actually a coherent country and pull out of the federation. Join the US, become independent, whatever, but don't prolong the degredation of your once-honorable (and possibly honorable again) history by allowing these Liberal maniacs to speak for you!

Most people in the Western Provinces are not Happy with Jean or Quebec

Some of us are only a few blocks away and aren't thrilled with him either.

Chrétien is set to retire in about a year's time, and in the meantime he is ever-so-concerned about his "legacy." Something tells me he doesn't want to be remembered as a wartime Prime Minister.

As he would look mighty foolish sending a military to war that he has gutted for 10 years, perhaps he's wiser than we think.

Ironically, it was Chrétien's mentor, Pierre Trudeau, who invoked the War Measures Act during the October Crisis of 1970, putting Montréal under martial law to combat domestic terrorism. Asked how far he would go, he answered: "Well, just watch me." (Like Chrétien, however, Trudeau was no fan of defense spending.)

If America would like to spare a couple thousand troops, I'd be glad to meet them at the border at Peace Bridge and direct them to the Chretien residence.....

I'll be serving Ribs Texas style and beer.

I saw the CNBC coverage also....made me sick to my stomach.

One thing that I am awaiting with curiousity is this:
How many countries who are NOT on our side have proclaimed (and in some cases DEMANDED)that they be involved in the "reconstruction" of post-conflict Iraq? I heard the Canadian PM state this last night and I believe the French have made the same noise.

IMO, the UN and any country that isn't backing us in this endeavor should have exactly SQUAT to say in what happens when the mop-up starts. I know I'm thinking ahead of all of this but...

From another board:

LATE BREAKING NEWS:
It was announced early this morning that Canada is now prepared to help the United States in its war against terrorism. They have promised to commit 2 of their largest battleships, 6,000 armed troops and 60 fighter jets...

However, after the US/Canadian Exchange Rate is applied, that comes down to a Canoe, 2 Mounties and a Flying Squirrel named Rocky!

I watched it as well and it is important to separate the Toronto liberals and Quebec separatistes from the western based Canadian Alliance members who were unanimious in thier condemnation of the Chretien decision and in their anger at our lack of military support. I was sickened and outraged by the anti-American attitide exhibited and am ashamed. Please understand they do not represent the majority of Canadians who love and respect America and Americans.

Chretien's family is tied financially to a French oil company making a fortune in Iraq. Canada's failure to support our best friend and ally is not simply a matter of typical Liberal cowardice and ineptitude, there is also a very large component of personal gain on the line for the family of Canada's prime minister.

I am not sure which I would find more disgusting, personal gain or a bankrupt ideology.

Somewhat similar to New Yorkers disgusted with Hillary. People immediately think that all NYers are in lockstep with the limo libs.

Most thinking people wouldn't equate all Canadians with the loonies. I don't.
