Plus, the Long guy who the media quoted, wasn't even Mitchell's lawyer. That statement was unauthorized by Mitchell!

I agree. As it become clear now what this vermon did to this child, it is also clear what should be done to them.

I do not believe such people can be rehabilitated and do not care to risk my own on the whimsical hope that others may have that they can. Let them plead their case to the Almighty.

Best regards, stay safe and mind your knot.

Both types need the same punishment as far as I am concerned.

I understand what you are saying about the others who do kill ... but these people took her life from her too. The manner in which it was done, with the threatened death of the other family members and the assault at the point of a knife ... tells me that they are killers anyway and at some point they will cross that line. Like we are doing with the animal Hussein, prempting him before he gets the chance, I say we do with this ilk also.

If we believe the death penalty will deter the killing, how much more so would it deter the actual kidnapping in the first place?

If we do not believe it will deter the one, then it will also not deter the other IMHO ... except that those people will neither do either again.

Just my two cents. <p. Regards.

I understand your position and it is completely valid. I am a supporter of the death penalty and find it hard to believe that I am now arguing that these vermin should be spared. I just keep thinking how they would never have been caught if they had killed her and buried her in the woods.

There has to be some greater punishment that can be given to those pedophiles who kill their victims so that pedophile kidnappers and rapists will have some incentive not to kill to avoid arrest or conviction. Since it is unlikely that the Supreme Court will ever approve death by slow torture I don't see any alternative but to reserve the death penalty for the child killers and give life in prison without the possiblity of parole to the child kidnappers and rapists.

I believe they would have been found in any case. The family was already pointing that way, towards Mitchell, and I believe the police were coming around.

He'd been arrested in San Diego, and once an APB went out on him they (the police collectively who had already had dealings with this animal) would have brought him in.

I also understand your arguement, but believe that the deterance arguement, if it holds against those who murder, would aslo hold, even more so, against those doing the kidnapping and sexual assault if we regularly carried it out.

Best regards.
