ANTIWAR LEFT, CONTAINMENT AND MEMORIES OF THEIR EAGERNESS TO CHECK SOVIET AGGRESSION
Posted on 03/19/2003 4:44:40 AM PST by Chancellor Palpatine
All this recent talk about strict inspections and stern containment has gotten my memory working. According to the antiwar left, stern containment meaures will work against Hussein because they were effective against the Soviet Union.
Of course, these are the same people who opposed most of the measures to contain the Communists, and who quaked in terror anytime a President announced a new weapons program or drew a line in the sand.
Remember the Nuclear Freeze? Helen Caldicott? That idiot Benjamin Spock? The fear mongering of the left on a Nuclear Winter? The MX and Star Wars battles?
Their mendacity isn't exactly astounding, but they've got some brass ones to raise containment now.

The hardcore leftists (mainly in Europe) will be against
anything the U.S. is for. They hate success based on principles that are antithetical to their ideology, i.e. capitalism, free market economy, competition, willingness to use military force, willingness to acknowledge God, etc. It doesn't matter what we do, they'll be against us. They hate that, in the real world, our ideas work and theirs ultimately fail. They hate our power and they hate our success and will magnify ANY faults we have WAY out of proportion to their actual significance.
The liberals and other Democrats in the U.S. will be against anything put forward by a Republican administration. They are similar to the leftists in Europe, but not quite as radical, for the most part.
This is the way it is in the world. You can set your watch by it. You can write their propaganda yourself, because they are so utterly predictable you know exactly what they are going to say before they say it.

The latest news is that troops have moved into the "demilitarized zone." My question: now that there are troops in it, is it still a "delimitarized zone?" :o)

Lying revisionists.
Every day the left assaulted Ronald Reagan for his stand against the Soviets, tried to block his every move, but he knew he was right, just like W knows he is right.
The left didn't contain anything except their own perverted excrement.

Here is another interesting conclusion you can draw - the yellow, antiwar left has historically tried to imply that every aggressive regime has a quantity of goodwill and rationality, and that an absence of challenge will keep that level of goodwill up. Of course, they're gambling safety, security and the lives of not only Americans, but also the citizens of the psycho regime. In essence, they expect the world to accept their judgment, at a distance, of the lack of evil intentions of a hostile, aggressive regime.

Yeah, but I see their "pacifist" tendencies as being a direct reaction to U.S. (and esp. Republican) willingness to call evil evil and use military force when it is obvious to anyone who has a lick of sense that some despots respond only to the real threat of force.
Therefore, they aren't so much FOR despots as they are AGAINST the U.S. way of doing things, and their opposition is so great that they will climb right into bed with despots to defend them against the Heartless, Warmongering Capitalists who drink the blood of civilians killed in combat.

It is the "old style" diplomacy writ large that they want us to fall into. Endless talking, but with no real ahmmer to enforce what has been agreed to.
It could well be that we are finally seeing the death of French style diplomacy (none too soon for my tastes), and it is replaced with the American style - where nations tell each other what they want, straight up, with no evasion, equivocation or back doors in order to salvage positions if it doesn't work out.
Pretty damn refreshing, if you ask me.

Difference in ideology is the fundamental factor, along with sour grapes. French style diplomacy only applies when their national interests aren't directly involved.
Exhibit A
France had no problem sending their military to their former colony, the Ivory Coast, acting unilaterally, with no UN input.
Exhibit B
Iraq's government is socialist, Cuba's is communist, Zimbabwe's is socialist (I think), Venezuela's is Marxist
Exhibit C
The same Spanish judge who nabbed Chilean right-wing former dictator Pinochet has no problem with Fidel Castro's human rights record. In fact, Castro was honored by Spain with some sort of medal recently. This same Spanish judge is lusting after the blood of Henry Kissinger for his alleged actions regarding the overthrow of the Allende (Marxist) government, but all they can say about Castro's Cuba is that they all have free medical care.
Exhibit D
With Libya at its head, the UN Human Rights committee is preparing to look into allegations of human rights abuses by the U.S. This is the same Human Rights committee that voted the U.S. off the committee a couple of years ago in a SECRET vote.
Exhibit E
France allows Idi Amin to vacation in Nice, and rolls out the red carpet for Zimbabwe dictator Mugabe, putting him up in the best hotel in Paris while Zimbabweans are starving, and harbored American woman-killer Ira Einhorn for something like 15 years.
And this is only what I can come up with off the top of my head.

Historical accuracy is only considered useful when it suits the knowing commie/anarchist and when the idealist, flower-power, Lennon-idolizing teenage follower, unaware of conceptual acuity, starts to grow up and ask the right questions. Until then there is no consequence for spreading lies and anti-capitalist propaganda, because in their minds its never proven wrong. Theres always a conspiracy, and the conspiracy protects the lie. Arguing against it just makes you a likely co-conspirator; someone who shouldnt be listened to. If the co-conspirator is smarter than most, then he/she is a government agent.
Ive been banned from liberal web sites and accused by the Mods of being on the CIAs payroll just for presenting a well researched argument provided with resources.
