That photo poignantly describes the global conflict between militant Islam and American capitalism. They are angry that we export our values through peaceful economic means. They are perfectly content to resort to deadly means to promote their values or destroy that which is valued by other cultures. We are shocked at their violence, but we mainly confront it by offering more freedom/capitalism (with one notable current exception). European Socialism is happy to let Islam brutalize the world, so their absence in the photo is also meaningful.
