It was beautiful and goose bump material. Of course we forgot our camera...... typical family outing.

A participant in a rally in support of the war in Iraq (news - web sites) holds up a sign outside Richmond, Va., Sunday, March 23, 2003. Police estimated the crowd at between 5,000 and 6,000 for the event which is part of a string of nationwide 'Rallies for America' sponsored and organized in part by radio stations owned by Clear Channel Communications. Free Republic's own "PatrickHenryinVA" really gets into his role. Way to go Michael! You were great! (as usual)

What a great turnout! Richmond and New York should be proud, and of course so should all the other rallies :)

Lotsa folks!! Inspirational speakers and singers were wonderful, but the great thing was the people in the audience...I tried to move around to get pictures of a bunch of the better signs and it was a pleasure meeting so many folks just out on a pretty Sunday afternoon celebrating America and Liberty and our Fighting forces!!
Great day all around, despite running late from the git-go!!
I saw ligeia and her #1 son just before the program got going full-speed, but the chances of hooking up with a bunch of FReepers with that many folks is unrealistic. Next time we'll haveta get the Old Dominion FReepers together in a smaller throng...LOL!!
FReegards...MUD
BTW...ligeia, thanks fer roadtripping all the way from NOVA and fer bringing your son...he seems like a good young man...whattaya have him when you were 12?! Utmost FReegards to both of y'all.

Oh, my word! What FANTASTIC pictures you took! Thanks so much for posting them and getting the thread started. Could you believe the day?? I knew we were in for a treat when driving down the road to the Pavilion people were crossing the street from the overflow parking in groups of 50 all carrying flags and wearing their red, white, and blue!

Thanks for posting that pic! The emcee for the day, Glenn Beck named that sign as the sign of the day! He mentioned it at the end of the rally and the crowd got a huge chuckle out of it.

By the time we arrived, about 12:30, the place was mobbed. I waded through the crowd while my wife waited in the very long porta-potty queue, but I couldn't find the FR contingent. It was rather difficult to see standing down in the field, so we climbed up onto the little hill.
All in all, it was a fine showing, but where were the Freepers?

Thanks for the terrific pictures!. I was in there somewhere.
I felt very proud to see all the patriots who turned out for our country, (and was very gratified when the folks around me whooped it up during my husband's rendition of Patrick Henry's "Liberty or death" speech!)
I wish I had recorded it....I didn't even take pictures, though. My son (who was hanging out with Dad in the WRVA tent) had the camera. I think he took some photos, though, maybe DH can get them up....
