Chemical Plant Found

'CHEMICAL PLANT FOUND'

A huge chemical weapons factory has been found in Iraq, according to Pentagon sources.

The facility was found by advancing US troops in An Najaf, around 100 miles south of Baghdad, the sources say.

The general in charge of the factory was arrested by the 1st Brigade of the Third Infantry division and is being questioned, the sources said.

An unconfirmed report by Fox news said the complex is around 100-acres, adjacent to military barracks and surrounded by an electric fence.

Sky News Foreign Affairs Editor Tim Marshall said if the claims are substantiated they will in part vindicate President Bush and Prime Minister Blair.

They have argued the case for war against Iraq on the grounds that Saddam Hussein had banned weapons of mass destruction, including chemical and biological weapons.

The Iraqi regime has always denied this and UN weapons inspectors sent back into the country at the end of last year failed to find any evidence to suggest otherwise.

It's not a chemical plant, it's a chocolate chip cookie factory.

Can't be weapons. Blix and Cherac (sp?) assure us that Iraq has no such! Perhaps they'd be willing to go in and sniff around to identify the chemicals.

Justification is a moving target. The French moved the goalposts after resolution 1441. Doubtless they will move it again. If the US found ovens and gaschambers in Baghdad, the French will point out that the corpses were uneaten.

Hans and his boys were not looking for anything that large. Isn't chemicals and germs small????? When confronted Hans stated that hedid have some directions in his pocket, but his dog ate them before he left that morning.

Best news of the day by a wide margin (even if you're a Butler Univ. alum).

Gee, the inspectors were in Iraq for 12 years and didn't find anything. The military is there for 48 hours and already we're finding the facilities the inspectors couldn't find.

There is going to be much, much more than this in the coming weeks.

Would be funny if it weren't so true.

The libs will say we are violating the Geneva Conventions by questioning the General. They won't care what the plant produced.

You just gotta love American and British engineers - it only took them 4 days to build and stock a 100-acre chemical weapons facility in Iraq so they could frame poor little Saddam.

Just goes to show that 250,000 inspectors are better than a dozen inspectors.
