When 80% of voters deem that war unjust then goverment may do something.

That's not what the poll said. The poll had 80% of Russians "want[ing] Iraq to win the war with the US." Big difference.

oh, and in case you haven't heard in Russia, the US is not the only country fighting Iraq here. Just because Russia put its head in the sand, doesn't mean that there aren't plenty of others who didn't.

wow, there is a lot of malevolence in this article. he seems to really enjoy any difficulty we have. what sick, envious SOBs. When you live like a spiteful, hateful SOB, things have a way of not going your way. When we win this thing, I am going to remember all of these evil, envious
screeds and the small degenerates who wrote them.

It's Pravda, what do you want me to say? I shelve this right up there with the 3 million year old civilization they claimed to have proof of. The US would have to be led by a psychopath with a suicide wish to invade Russia...there would be nuclear war about 1 hour after the invasion...besides the logistics issue would be quite daunting...the coalition of the willing would get really small really quickly. Pravda is only good for a laugh and toilet paper for the poor...and since it's on digets now, its not even good for toilet paper.

I don't know anymore. After US exercise war against Russia's wish. I think Russia may ally with Europe or stay alone.

I think you mean "France and Germany." The rest of Europe IS allied with the United States.

Yup, Spain and what passes for militaries in Eastern Europe would just scare the border guards silly...till the Russian boy scouts (yes they are boy scouts now) reinforced them...but their will might be broken by the mighty Italian hordes. As for the US...I highly doubt the US public would swallow the 5-10 million casualties it would take...that was about what the Wehremacht took. It wouldn't be a bad day when 10 soldiers died, that would be the average ten minute toll.

Look, stop the stupid bravado and stop reading stupid communist party prapaganda. I swear, I think the vast majority of Pravda's readers are in America, because if you think even for a moment that communism or any of that crap will return in Russia, you need a cranial enima.

With ballots counted from 292 of 418 electoral districts, 96.1 percent of votes were in favor,

LOL!! Who are they kidding?? The former leader of Chenya, who the Russians have deemed "irrelevant" has vowed to fight on. And the massive Russian Army cant put down the rebellion, just wait and see.

And now they wish the US would just take orders from the Fench and Germans? Putin will find out what its like to rely on the Europeans for help.. (not very helpful I would guess)

It would also be a lot easier if the US stopped supporting the Saudies who support most of the Islamic terror, stopped supporting the Pakistanies and their terrorists, stopped looking the other way on Arafrat and stopped giving money to the IRA. Is this a war on terror or on just some terror? State department constantly meeting with Chechin terrorists from an illegal islamicist regime, sure doesn't help the situation any.

Russia also has the fastest growth rate of GDP of all Western nations, it has the lowest taxes of all Western nations, is the only Western nation slashing beaurocracy to improve business and the only Western nation with a debt to earnings ration of .35 to 1. In a few more years things economically will look quite differently with the present 10th largest economy in the world (Russia) PPP equivalent $1.2 trillion dollars, .2 trillion behind Italy...ackowrding to the CIA fact book.

France and Germany MIGHT fight if foreign armies actually invaded their countries, but I wouldnt put money on it. The US is all there is out there, the last Superpower. Its a shame these countries who should know better, don't. The Russians could make nice with us without hurting their self interest, IMO.

Thats coming, but Saudi is the big oil supplier and Pak has nukies. But the US likes order, and Islamo fascism and terrorism disrupts the order.

rest of Europe are small fish. They simply looks for new master. Comon

Population of France & Germany: 142mm

Pupulation of UK, Spain & Italy: 157mm

Population of Poland: 40mm Population of Russia 140mm Average population of 12 other European countries backing the war: 10mm.

Conclusion: You are wrong. The willing outnumber the cowards.

Learn ther history. They always was under wing of big state. One or another. They want to sell thier alligance. US pays they serve.

Now, admittedly, the history carriculum was probably slightly different when you were in school in communist Russia, but I can't believe that nobody ever told you that England, France, and Italy were each the most powerful nation on the planet at one time. Unlike France, they have now accepted that they are no longer superpowers.

I already said I think Pravda is full of crap. However, former communists will continue to be a problem in Russia and Germany for the next generation or so.

Problem is, Russia has backed down on several major issues, it has openned bases for the US and done other things and has gotten nothing in return.

The US has not helped in WTO entry. It was not stopped meeting with Chechin terrorists or labelled them as such. It has not put pressure on Shevi to close the Georgian border. It has not invested in Russia (Germany and France are major investers). It has not given Russian companies a fare and level playign field. There's a lot the US could have done but has not. It continues to defend the Saudies who sponsor terror in Russia, for one. The US backed government for new Iraq was mouthing off from day one that it would not honor any debts...that is plain stupid for negotiating. What is Putin to do? He is an elected official and the Russian public is really growing disillusioned with the US the same way they did under Clinton. The US should try selling itself and its ideas in Russia half as hard as it does in Outer Pistachio or any other non-entity state.

I give them another 10 years max, by then most will be either dead of old age or to senile to know what's going on. Putin has out maneuvered them and even though they still hold abot 25% of the seats, they chair no committees and the party itself looks ready to split between hard liners and more liberal elements.
